32 deaths spread out over the SE

those numbers aren't far off from the number killed everyday in the SE from car accidents.

And moreso considering anyone that has a fatal accident in a storm area is attributed to the storm.

You should probably get rid of your health, life, home, and car insurance because you seem to be okay with not preparing for the worst.

That’s some Covid level fear-mongering right there. “Cancel your health insurance if you don’t want to get vaxxed”

So there’s no middle ground? The entire state has to shut down as if a Cat 5 is coming in? Restaurants and small businesses have to close. Employees don’t get paid. Kids having to eat dinner in fear while wearing bike helmets like it’s the duck and cover days.

There’s got to be a better way. We aren’t saying that we need to dismantle the tornado sirens.

Also is the untold adverse health effects and loss of enjoyment that comes with the stress of making a huge deal out of an event that will almost certainly not affect you.....like covid

Very difficult to impossible to calculate that but unnecessary stress and worry is something most people ignore for some reason.

That’s not what’s happening. They are sensationalizing every front now. They called this one historic, possibly generational. Was it really any worse than one we see every single year? Or did the tornados just happen to hit people this time?

Exact opposite actually. Tell people hey there’s a front moving through. Some areas could be bad, but for the most part just going to be some wind and rain. If you hear a tornado siren or a tornado, take cover.

Friend,

The comparison between Covid and extreme weather events is unfair. Covid killed more Americans in one year than all weather events combined in American history, by many times. Covid killed more Americans in the last month than all weather related events in the last year. The ten year average number of deaths in America due to tornadoes is less than 50. Hurricanes? Less than 20. Rip currents on average kill more Americans each year in the last decade than tornados and hurricanes combined.

People devour fear and gore today, and they are many willing to provide the consumers with plenty of drama. Take precautions, but do not let fear command your lives.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

Upon reflection, you are correct, as usual. I will leave my original post as punishment for making that irrational comparison.

Always good a have a friend I can trust to show me the error of my ways.

Then people like Spann can stop with the whole “Any day can be your April 27th if a tornado hits your house” line. That doesn’t promote caution. It promotes hysteria

Only if you let it. Again how you let the information affect you is a YOU thing, not the information.

Tell me again how it doesn’t affect me when schools and businesses close out of an abundance of caution?

This needs to be emphasized. A dozen-plus people died up there and there were no alerts for them.

You're either a liar, ill-informed, or full of shite. Either way, you shouldn't chime in if you clearly have no idea what you are talking about. I'm not throwing in with this debate again, it is old and tired, but I won't just watch bullshite being spewed.

I don’t know just what the pre storm graphics indicated for those unfortunate folks, but if the graphics were accurate they should have shown worse weather for those areas than shown for Laf., BR and NO.

They had a graphic well in advance that showed the biggest impact would be in Mississippi and Alabama and why. They were spot on with their information.

Yall will politicize anything.

They were off by a bit, but if Terrytown happened during the St. Patrick's parade, that would have been a disaster.

And all you folks who are dumb enough to think everything D (and vice versa) is wrong and everything R is correct will never understand the randomness of weather.

Look, reality doesn't matter with most of these people. They just make up whatever fits the view they need to keep raging.

Want to tell the 26 people that have died (so far) that it was overhyped? Just because something didn't happen to you, doesn't mean nothing happened.

So, 26 people had all this hype and warning and still perished. Just like they would have in 1925

Judging from the Covid thread, you believe in the hysteria and shutdown of everything “even if it saves just one life”

And like clockwork Spann is doing the “Good morning to everyone but this guy” thing this morning where he goes engagement fishing by doxxing people who call him out. He does it literally after every storm.

Kinda hard to dox someone if their name is blurred. Would you have been happier if a tornado had hit your house? I was thankful all I got was some rain.

Jesus H Christ with this hyperbole.

Spann actually used to do it with names and private messages but he (rightfully) got called out for basically doxxing people. There’s zero need to do it anyway outside of fishing for engagement….which is the goal. It accomplishes nothing except trying to silence anyone that dare questions him.

They had BR in a level 4, NO s 3.
They missed the forecast here. That’s all I’m saying. It was not an historic event as they predicted.

I lost count of how many times I read the date April 27, 2011 mentioned when describing this system in the two threads.
