My 5 year old asked me the other day how is fall different from summer. I just told her it’s a word to explain that winter is closer.

Short term weather in a specific area vs long term global climate patterns are very different.

We got a baby one in Wichita and today has been nice. Unfortunately I’ve been stuck inside working all day.

It wasn't terrible today in CENLA.

Depends on what you mean by "cool front" - if that's 50s overnight and maybe 81 or 82 for the high? I'm thinking we got 3 to 4 weeks. Maybe 5.

It seems like it's been 80 on Christmas Day the past few years.

New Orleans high Christmas 2018 was 69.

2017 was 59 1/2

2016 was 72

2015 was 79 (close enough to call, even a blind squirrel, and all that...)

2014 was 58

2013 was 54

2012 was 79 (again, ding)

2011 was 57

2010 was 53 1/2

2009 was 56

So it did happen twice in 10 years (in New Orleans, which I assume is the warmest spot in the state by default, if not universally), but not in 4 years.

Some one should bet their wife a Christmas morning BJ if Christmas is cold in New Orleans. By cold, I mean highs below 65.

Oh wait someone is still waiting to cash I on that below 50 bet before November. His balls must be the size of basketballs by now.

Yet they are both based on computer modeling, which somehow cant seem to get it right just a few weeks out . . . .

But the models of 50 years from now, are supposed to be dead on accurate. And I'm illiterate if I question them

Summer is when Walmart has Halloween decorations up. Fall is when Walmart has Christmas decorations up.
