Oh yeah, Mendel's work on genes and crops don't apply to sugarcane because LA farmers are geniuses.

Brazil introduced GMO sugarcane in 2017.

The trade war with China? What the frick?

And it’s not because the federal government have been placing regulation after regulation and tax after tax on the farmer for fricking decades.

Democrats have been in control for 12/16 years.

Most probably because farmers are the only people that have no person or entity, business company or avenue to pass costs down to

This isn't even true.

Pretty much any producer in a global market has to sell at the global price of that commodity. Why do you think farmers are the only producers in a global market?

quote:

John Deere can go up
Ag pilots can go up
consultants can go up
Seed companies, fertilize companies, chemical companies can go up
Part stores
Fuel companies

Again, same with any industry that relies on worldwide commodity pricing.

quote:

To make matters worse in a global market, which we’re in, we have very little say, and the cost in which we sell our product what other business in the world do you know where you make something a tangible product and you ask what will you give me for this ????

That's how commodity markets have worked for a long time.

quote:

I’m sorry you stupid motherfrickers dint have the mental capacity to realize that and you think that all farmers just are sitting around on welfare sucking up tax dollars,

And now you pivot to a straw man

Tariffs are only a part of it. Trump admin trade/economic policies HAVE hurt American soybean farmers. The admin is looking for new ways to bailout farmers hurt by their policies

quote:

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is “crunching numbers” as it considers potential relief for farmers from tariff-related losses, U.S. Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Stephen A. Vaden said Monday.

President Donald Trump’s administration previously hinted that it might devote up to $12 billion to aid payments for farmers who were hurt by tariff policies this year, Politico reported in late October.

“This department only woke back up on Thursday of last week,” Vaden said, referencing the Nov. 12 conclusion of the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. “Lots of things changed during (the government shutdown),” including trade agreements with China, Southeast Asia, Pakistan and Japan, he added.

“Those have resulted in major commitments to buy American commodities and USDA now needs to take into account the effect that those commodity purchases will have on the market … going into 2026,” Vaden said.

quote:

Asked what would happen if China does not meet the 12 million metric ton agreement by the Jan. 1 deadline, a USDA spokesperson wrote that the “farm economy is in a difficult situation” and Trump is “utilizing all the tools available to ensure farmers have what they need to continue their farming operations.”

The USDA will “continue to assess the farm economy and explore the need for further assistance, however, there is nothing new to share at this time,” the spokesperson wrote in an email to the Lookout.

Well? How else can we destroy farm families and make sure the big corporations get even richer?

My grandfather was a dairy farmer in SE Louisiana in Franklinton when I was young. All of his neighbors were dairy farmers as well. I milked cows when I was in elementary school up through high school. The same thing happened to them. Corporations bought up all of the dairy farms or made it so that local farmers could not make any money selling milk.

I now live on family land in North Louisiana and plan to be as self sufficient as I possibly can be by raising my own beef, chickens, garden etc.

What a day
Sfp is going to explain the farm economy to me

What was price of soybeans last Oct compared to this one
Last Nov 24 to this Nov 24 ?

Soybeans are the best bet to plant out of a lot of bad options

What commodities are doing the worst and tariffs would actually help? And why?

This farm economy is 40+ years of bad ag policy coming home to roost

Grandfather was greedy, selling out to a corp. Especially since however they "made it so local farmers could not make any money selling milk," but then magically turned into profitable operations after your granddad and his neighbors sold out. Lazy, lazy, lazy thinking. ETA: Tell us precisely what the evil corps did to run all the local farmers out of business, and then make money using local cows and grass to make money. Otherwise it stinks of bullshite (no pun intended.)
