re: We need some positive vibes - What's the biggest positive that's come from 'Rona?Posted by MorbidTheClown on 8/6/20 at 2:39 pm to Costanza
more OT than i've ever had
401k higher than it's ever been.
401k higher than it's ever been.
The months that families got to spend together with "Family Time," doing things they really didn't have a lot of time for before - playing games, doing puzzles, just being a family. Before quarantine, lives were so much more hectic.
Families went on walks in their neighborhoods, met neighbors they had never met, had "teddy bear hunts," - just getting back to a simpler life and time.
And as someone mentioned above, the Birthday car lines for kids are awesome.

Getting my time back. I realized how much unnecessary shite I had committed myself to, and I've pared it back to a few wants and the needs.

I've gone all in on wildlife photography, and birding.

I haven’t offed myself yet. So there’s that.

Dude ate my wife's glasses after they all went back to school yesterday. He is not happy that it's over.

I did the same with bushcrafting. Wife thinks I’m nuts.

I think some of my friends and family think I'm nuts too sometimes, but they think that its cool and interesting when I show them a badass shot of an eagle or hawk, or casually identify a bird based on the sound it makes.
what are you using as far as resources for learning bush craft?

Doggie style is safest to avoid COVID19.

Mainly youtube. I follow several different guys. Paul Kirtley is my favorite in terms of learning techniques and such, but I also follow Joe Robinet, TA Outdoors, the Baird brothers (won Alone season 4), and a few others even though they mix bushcraft in with canoe trips and such.
I'm not out there making primitive shelters and starting a fire with a bow or anything that crazy, but I do like just going out with some food and water, a tarp, and my sleeping bag for a couple nights on the weekend. Starting a fire with a firesteel is also surprisingly fun.
