Atlanta is not a good hockey market long term.

Completely 100% wrong here. You do know Atlanta is loaded with transplants from the Midwest/NE right?

Plus youth hockey has really taken off here.

The issue with the Thrashers(and the Flames) was never attendance,.it was ownership.

Now saying they, when the NHL does come back, the arena will be in the Northern Suburbs closer to the STH base, similar to what the Braves did.

Well, its a better quality product than we had 20 years ago. The players have bought in to the community and the community loves them. They go to different places around the city and the kids get to meet and talk with them. Its really a big deal.

Not so fast, for a "sold out" game there is a ton of empty seats visible on the game feed.

I take all sold out claims with a huge grain of salt.

Lafayette sold out Ice Gators games for years. You’d be surprised

And every time I went to Brass and Kingfish games the stadium was packed. Hockey is fun.

Not a snowball's chance in hell for NOLA.
Houston is likely first. Given its proximity to Miami and Tampa NHL teams, I would think Orlando would be a close second in the equation.

they have problems filling up the arena for pels games, no way
shite team in a small to medium sized market has trouble filling arenas all over the country. When the Pels are somewhat decent, the games are well attended

why would hockey be different if not more subject to a fickle fan base that has next to no hockey history ?

and not to mention NOLA political history of ineptitude and mismanagement
yall have more idiotic politicos that Chicago

plus south LA is sinking into the Gulf of America

I can see the NHL paying attention to the super bowl, which the rating were recently released and it had the highest ratings of any other SB.. Just over 184 Million viewers. And just asking the question "Should New Orleans be considered a city to put an NHL team?". Its probably nothing more than a discussion.

I always wish I followed hockey more just because the crowds seem wild and they fight so if a team comes to New Orleans it would give me a reason to follow the NHL.

I would trade the Pelicans for an NHL team this second. But an NHL team would also fail spectacularly in New Orleans. At least basketball is a cultural fit and the Pelicans are still failing.

That’s great. Your demographics are changing.

No one is going to want to go downtown to a hockey game.

There’s 7mm in the Houston area, it would flourish and quite honestly it could create a youth league economy that would be worth some serious scratch.
