So is the pope a registered republican or not? Is that fake news?

He chose Leo, the first which did amazing things, like persuading Atilla the Hun not to attack Rome.

However, the more recent Leo’s, including his predecessor, were very much more liberal and about the community, similar to Francis

If Jesus Christ were alive, do yall really think he would want America to turn away a mother who snuck into America from Mexico to give her kids a better life?

This isn’t fricking politics, it’s the pope

Let me be clear, I want the Mexican illegal mmigrant mother thrown back. I don’t think Jesus would agree with me

I also don’t want a murderer to be given chance at forgiveness, I want him killed quickly.

I think Jesus would want you to help the mother but would also understand she should follow the law

There is no reasonable way for a poor Mexican destitute person to become a legal alien. It’s completely unrealistic. Illegal migration is a law of man not god as well

I think it’s silly that people can’t just say it’s completely impractical to run a country truly as Christlike

I also think stopping the bomb on Japan was the right choice even though it knowingly killed women and children. Also confident Mr, Christ would have been against that

I am perfectly fine with the church representing idealist unrealistic views on things.

if Jesus was so hell bent on following laws, then He would’ve let the people stone the woman accused of adultery

He would not have healed on the Sabbath or healed lepers or blind people or would’ve said He could forgive sins

I’m not sure what He’d want when it comes to illegal immigration

This guy had a great breakdown, and I automatically trust a man in a fringe jacket smoking a burlwood pipe. That man is a quest giver,

Once again, I am very, very pleased an American Pope was elected.

Think about how the entire world sees this decision.

We won today.

Jesus is worried about her soul, not her location.

If we polled Catholic priests generally, Trump might have fewer fans than many might assume.

No he isn’t.

Theology is a plane above politics.

Do some treat the position like a politician, sure. But the position of the Pope is to guide Christ’s kingdom, feeding his sheep. When Christ reflects on if taxes should be paid, his response isn’t just follow the law. It is him telling the crowd that what he is trying to teach them is above worldly politics.

The job of the papacy is to continue that mission.

Fair points but The world today isn’t remotely similar to the world 2000 years ago

We have elaborate governments and programs for citizens designed to help them in times of need. Social security- Medicaid - SNAP- section 8- etc… and they’re burdened by illegals coming to get a piece. The programs are already strained.

It’s understandable for a person to have an issue with illegals coming in to take away from something that isn’t rightfully theirs be it a job, or money from a government program.

So as a Christian, I strive to be like Jesus. I live a secular life though. I feel compelled to abide by the laws of my state and country. Aiding illegal immigration by housing or otherwise assisting someone here illegally is a crime.

Yes, theoretically. But you delude yourself.
Are you going to stand here and tell me that Leo X wasn't a monarch, along with the vast majority of medieval popes? They were essentially generals at times too.

Right. We have had good popes and we have had bad popes. The position is inherently non-political.

Let’s hope Pope Leo returns focus to the primary and only purpose of the papacy.
