Still setting in that the new Pope is an American. I'm not even Catholic but today is a special day for our country.

Trump meeting the first American pope will be a really big deal. Look forward to seeing that

No, but I was briefly showing you that he did teach priority.

Do you really think your moral duties to a stranger thousands of miles away are the same as to your own wife and children? Nobody thinks that.

Do I think that? Of course not

But I don’t speak on behalf of Catholic or Christ teachings

Vance said something incorrect on church teachings. A cardinal corrected him

It’s a completely non story and not a big deal

I think it’s completely logical for religious leaders to say everyone should have open borders.

completely logical for actual leaders of countries to not give a shite what they say

This times a thousand. I realize the election of a pope is by definition a political process, but this country is so ate up with sharply defined two party political factions, we immediately apply red or blue to everything from religious ideology, entire states, and even athletic events.

Leo voted republican, registered as a republican, and ran a pro life group at Villanova. Plus his father is a creole from New Orleans. Great choice IMHO.

you guys overthink everything
JD gave a biblical "love hierarchy" so to speak that he said is a Christian concept, the cardinal (now pope) disagreed and said Jesus does not ask us to rank our love for others.
That's it.

He told his " best friend" to go and sin no more. In your language He told da bitch to stop fricking. It never said "best friend" with ANY sinful person.

Hope I’m dead wrong for the sake of the Roman Catholic Church, but Prevost/Leo XIV may be even further to the left than Francis. Just the fact that he is so closely aligned with James Martin and Cardinal Cupich should speak volumes. Very sad as the Leo popes were vigorous defenders of the faith. I’m afraid that this papacy will continue the path of destruction only at a faster pace.

Ok

I would never forgive and befriend the town whore

I would never forgive a murderer just because he repented etc etc

I find it perfectly fine to be both Catholic and a conservative. I have no conflict that the moralities of being Christ like conflict with the logic behind being a conservative in real world situations

Everything I have heard about him says that this is not true. He retweeted James Martin. He's not subscribing to everything he says

"The Vatican" is not going to reprimand Bishops in the US for their involvement, or lack thereof, with Catholic Charities.

Since we're on an LSU site. Your comparison would be like the Governor of Louisiana telling the LSU Alumni Chapter of Phoenix how to run their crawfish boil. Could he do it? Sure...LSU is a state institution and each chapter is a member of the Alumni Association which has a charter with LSU.

The beef with that is not about 'praying for George Floyd'.

The beef about that is pledging fealty to the 'CURRENT THING'. There was no racism involved in the George Floyd arrest.

Your reading comprehension leaves a bit to be desired. You missed the part about sin no more requirement. He is hardly friends with those that continue in their sinful ways.
