You’re so addicted to arguing you’ll do it in a Pope thread. Absolutely deranged stuff. Like unbelievably crazy.

How many popes have their been for everyone? This is #6 for me. Paul VI to Leo XIV. HUGE fan of JP II. Polar opposite from Woke Francis.
This #4 for me. Same here as a fan of JP II. He was the Pope for over half my life at this point.

Him continuing the synod is a massive red flag. Cannot be understated
quote:
Promoting co-responsibility in the church, he said, is not simply a matter of finding a new way to "distribute power."
Rather, he said, it means learning how to recognize the gifts of each person, particularly those "who still struggle to see their presence recognized in the church, those who do not have a voice, those whose voices are drowned out or even silenced or ignored, those who feel inadequate perhaps because they have difficult or complex life paths (and) are sometimes almost 'excommunicated' a priori."
Part of the goal of synodality, he said, is to "let God's heart shine through -- a heart open to all and for all."
It sounds roughly 880% Biblical.
Francis said that btw. Article

Yeh everything that is public on this guy(which isn’t much at all) doesn’t point to being liberal for the church or like Francis at all

Please. Tell me why.
Because the world shouldn’t be guiding the church’s teachings. The lay people should be guided in evangelization but their input on the church should almost always be disregarded.
We have scripture and we have tradition. The church does not need to be modernized. In fact the church should stand in direct conflict with our modern world.
One of the leaders Francis assigned was a liberal woman from the UK who describes herself as a “political theologian.” Her Twitter feed is full of messaging about kindness to migrants and nearly silent on abortion. In fact the only comments on abortion are pro choice friendly and condemning of the pro life crowd. Professor Anna Rowlands, you can look her up.

Get an 8 & 12 year Papacy... now go back to a younger (comparatively speaking) pope to maybe have a longer Papacy again
I figure it'll be 15ish years

When I read about synodality I think about this from Romans 12:
4For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your[a] faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead,[b] do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Over the Bishops themselves, yes. Over the Conference (organization)…not in the sense you’re referencing.
I have a feeling if the Conference starts ordaining women, we would see just how much power the pope has over them.

Use your gifts to spread the church of Christ does not mean bending teaching and tradition to appease a modern world.

There are more than 1.4 billion Catholics on earth, meaning he leads more people than any single person in the history of the planet.
Modi of India leads more going off internet estimates of worldwide Catholic population.
Catholics: 1.406 Billion
Indians: 1.438 Billion (2023)
Whichever position has more in the exact numbers column still leads a whole hell of a lot of people. Hard to wrap my mind around a billion people.
