Our gluttonous consumer society that always has to buy the new thing, and will pay whatever prices that these companies put up are at least partially to blame.
Uneducated consumers have flat out ruined multiple lines of business. Retards paying retard prices on used cars destroyed that market, same with appliances, and live events. It's obnoxious to try to see any sort of live act or sport nowadays, just fees after fees and bots buying up all the seats that actually hit the public, along with artists and others scalping their own damn ticket allotments.
Extremely strict lobbying rules should be put in place, and any verified violation of those rules should be treated as treason for both sides. It's pathetic that I have to put up with so much dog shite oversight because I work in the financial industry, but congress can insider trade.

How about a $500 registration fee at a private high school.

2. Reduces the "official" tuition cost.
This is a valid point, but I hate this statement. Let's keep tuition similar to all of the other schools around us, then let's have a bunch of boosterthons, fund raisers, and other events to guilt you into paying more money so we can meet our budget (the other schools do this too)

Yep, but the general public is addicted, so they simply can't just "not buy."

Parents have a fridge they bought after Katrina. Filter light came on and when asked, Dad (not big on home maintenance) said he just hits the reset. He had no idea when he last changed it. Water was coming out pretty slow so we changed with a generic one the size of an oil filter. Even filled with water, the new one was half the weight of the old one (full of sediment I suspect).
So, I recommend changing every 10-15 years.
On that note, we were told that our countertop picture frame will require a subscription now, because we have too many pictures on it, and/or some pics that exceed the max free picture size of 3MB (like most non flip-phone pics). Same for the one we bought the in-laws.
We'll delete enough to get under the limit or nix the Nixplay frame. Bring back the one ones that had an SD card you could stick in the side.

How about I bought 4 $8.00 tickets to the LSU game through stub hub. After markup from the seller only 20$ so not terrible Stub hub adds another $100.00 in fees so the total was almost $190 for $32 bucks in tickets
Just goes to show, it really sucks to be an LSU fan.

shite I’m 35 years old and I STILL drink hose water. If I’m outside doing yard work why would I go all the way inside and dirty a cup when there is a perfectly good hose a few steps away.
I just go grab a beer from the garage fridge.

So you favor a larger nanny state than we already have???

Americans that insist on bottled water at home have never lived in a place where the water isn't actually safe. Even the shitty sulfuric water in Northern Indiana that smelled like eggs didn't kill me. It's fine.
I may be completely off base but intuitively it would seem that drinking water from a bottle made from crude oil is slightly less healthy than drinking water directly from the tap....especially when the water in the bottle comes from the same source as the tap water.

It is infuriating how much money is being sucked out of us at every turn. I will probably just never change this filter again. I classify this under the new subscription model that almost everything is pushing us to. I wouldn’t be shocked to hear there are WiFi fridges that do charge monthly or else they disable.
Reminds me of Ubik that I read in high school

Geezus Christ man, you can drink the dang ole' water without it being filtered in the first place. Dramatic much?

You can drink it out of a garden hose....it might taste like garden hose but it won't cause you any harm

I drank water out of a rubber garden hose connected to a faucet on the side of the house all the time when I was a kid and feeling thirsty. Only trick was to let the water run a few seconds to push out any tiny critters that may have crawled up the hose and to let the water cool down the hot hose laying in the sun for hours at a time.
Something I think every kid should experience, great memories growing up.

I scrolled the whole thread and didn’t see anyone suggest bypassing the filter assembly on the fridge (if the fridge won’t pass through water without a filter installed).
Figure out what size water tubing you have, buy the appropriate size shark bite fittings, cut the tubing behind the fridge and connect the incoming water tube to the tube receiving water from the filter housing. Watch a YouTube video for reference.

Yes this is a problem with the new ge line. The filters have a chip. It sucks.

My man, if your fridge filter is clogging before it's due for a replacement, I'd recommend looking into reverse osmosis filter kit like this to put under your kitchen sink:
APEC Water Systems ROES-50 Essence Series Top Tier 5-Stage WQA Certified Ultra Safe Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Filter System
Replacement filters every 1/2 year for about $30-$40. But if the water is that bad, I'd probably want better water filtering for drinking water.

I'm pro-filter.
I'm in Shreveport and our water is so shitty, our filter will clog before it expires. The filter at least makes it drinkable.
I'll drink BR water out of the faucet. It's fine to me.
