They are no longer embarrassed by errors, factual or otherwise. There's no objectivity. It doesn't take
a School of Journalism
degree anymore. The dumbing down of America.

Real talk, this is honestly expected in today’s age of “journalism”, and it’s really sad.
All news agencies, both print and broadcast, are understaffed and the employees they do have are fresh out of college making no money and are being forced to crank out stories at a rapid pace. They also have less people employed to check and approve stories which leads to examples like this.
Even worse, broadcast journalists are being forced to write stories for the website for the news stations (which end up shitty like this), and the newspapers force their journalists to film, edit and take photos with their phones (which are shitty) to go online and on Facebook with their print stories.
TLDR; what do you expect from a dude who is making 25k, was likely hired for his video editing skills, and has no real experience or management above him? No one wants these jobs anymore and vast majority of people who have them are miserable

LSU who acts like they have a respected Journalism school is terrible. Some of the stuff put in the Reveille is mind blowing.

Have they had their anti gun article yet this semester? Or “trucks are bad”?

The station went downhill after their longtime news director “retired” about two years ago.
Previously WBRZ was interested in reporting the news. Now they’re worse than WAFB with the theatrics.
90% of their news alerts are completely sensationalized.

WBRZ is horrible. They try to find stories that no one else will be reporting on.. And I understand that, the media world we live in today is all about original content, but only to a certain degree. If it's a new media company, you have to find your niche and get material that people will associate with that company, but they are regional and there are some things they still have to report on.
And they hire the young hot reporters. Sure everyone likes to see the attractive reporter, but when it comes to news I would rather have accurate reports by people who are not stupid.

Affirmative action, low wages for failing local television network on-air talents, and lack of professional managent at work. Same goes for The Advocate and their whole staff. It’s really bad across the board for local news outlets.

I'm convinced WBRZ, WAFB, and The Advocate have no editors on staff.

People don’t read enough these days. Reading teaches you how to structure sentences. It also goes a long way in teaching you how to spell. Now if we could improve overall reading comprehension, I’d shite.

Someone should report a typo and just put a link to their homepage.

Television reporters are on the lowest rung of journalism's "smart scale."
They are the quintessential drive-by media -- style over substance (ok, enough Rush Limbaugh here).
Used to, TV reporters had a newspaper background (Cronkite, Murrow, Bob Schieffer).

They do it because they love reporting the news.

They are paid very little. Dregs of the barrel. Most are just happy AF to be on TV, which is why they pursued the job in the first place. Best case scenario is to end up married to some rich dude or be a news reader on Fox or CNN. No skill our journalistic ability required.
