Your father is a true hero and should have a statue built in his honor.

Absolutely...I do Podcast pretty regularly.
I think those guys would do your story justice. Take a listen when you can, it is True Crime Kent. Listen to their Jason Vukovich episode. Jason was molested by his dad as a kid, had a terrible family life, left home early, got in some trouble, and ended up getting revenge on child molesters he could uncover. You may know his story. Anyway, as part of the episode Kent interviewed Jason's sister (I think) and him.
The podcast is two guys. One they call The Operator is kind of a character. The other is a Marine named Kent. He does the research and tells the stories to the Op.
If it is okay with you, I may recommend your story to them. They try to do cases that aren't well known, and yours is one I've always thought would fit well with what they do.

Mike Barnett will tell me the whole backstory one day. Won't matter, Mr. Plauche did the right thing. We need more like him.
I doubt he will

Honey, just read the story. God bless you. I can’t imagine what you endured. Much respect for you and your father.

I guess not growing up in Baton Rouge I hadn’t heard of this before or seen it on here in my time. But your dad was/is a bad mother fricker for that!

I remember watching this pre kids and thought, "wow is that what it is going to be like when I have kids, am I going to love them that much do that?"
Now having kids, I can only hope that I would have the courage to do the same thing your father did should something like that happen to my children.
Whether what your dad did was right, wrong, or indifferent doesn't matter. That man showed and unconditional love for his child that he was willing to do ANYTHING to protect you. He is a hero for that and his strength has certainly resonated with me as a parent. I hope that my children know how much I love them the way you probably know how much your dad loved you.

Jody,
I do not know you and we have never met.....but I do want you to know how much admire your strength and ability to process, speak of, and share this aspect of your life. It says much about you.
All of this. Also, you can tell the Cops respected and understood what your Dad did. Otherwise he would have been on the ground with 3 of them on him.

After reading and watching the vids in this thread I have a question.
Was this karate instructor on drugs or did he just lose all rational thought?
He had to know the following:
1. The family and police would know he was the kidnapper.
2. When he contacted your mother. He had to know law enforcement was fully aware and listening.
3. There is had to be no doubt that he would get caught.
Was he crazy or was planning something really nefarious like murder/suicide if the law closed in?
How could he not know he would get caught very quickly?

My sister posted something on Facebook and the son of his probation officer commented and said his dad "wished all the people he supervised were like my dad because he was a model citizen for people on parole."
