Forget that he was an LSU athlete, or an LSU student for a minute; he was a kid. I remember when I was 20 and living life invincibly. How much more insensible BS does the community have to go through before it’s cleaned up? Or atleast pushes for it to be cleaned up. This is not news any family wants to wake up to. Prayers to the Sims family and friends.

It'll never be cleaned up. The politicians get power from it not being cleaned up and blaming everyone else for it.

It’s not just BR though. This is in NOLA, Chicago, Memphis, Baltimore, St Louis, Jackson, south Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Detroit. I wonder what the common problem is...

It's a cultural issue that I don't see changing anytime soon unfortunately.

Until people value life over the streets, nothing will happen.

most cultures do..... there is a certain culcha that doesnt. But you get labeled when you bring that up. But that label is losing meaning which is a good thing. Hopefully he happens sooner rather than later and some of these young lives can be saved.

Nope.

It will be considered a tragic loss and that’s about all the NBR community will do about it

Another day in NBR. He wasn't gunned down by a white person, so nobody over there cares.

Kids don’t have the wisdom to know how valuable life is. Factor in poverty and poor family structure.
Results in things like this.

Never...Just look at the people you're dealing with and the gov leaders who represent them in...Complete joke...It's an urban jungle and the only way to solve disputes is killing

Why does his death matter more than anyone else who has been shot and killed in this city?

At the end of the day, he's still a kid. Take away the LSU basketball team, take away his parents being who they are.

The people living there have to participate in it getting better. They largely don’t care, so you can’t exactly force people to act a way their culture doesn’t approve of

if only there was a common thread linking all of this. Some glaring fact that is so obvious it can't be ignored. Even if its "wrong" to acknowledge it.

I feel so sad for his family. His Dad, who had played for Dale Brown at LSU, must have been so proud for his son to play so well at LSU, following in his footsteps. And now this. Destroying the American dream, one family at a time.
