You probably don't have a great memory. Their skits making fun of Clinton were legendary whether it was Hartman or Darrel Hammond doing the impression.

Wow Of course there's an agenda. But at the same time, Trump is light years easier to make fun of than Obama merely at the surface. Just look at the guy and listen to him talk. This isn't rocket science.

It's not really my memory as much as my mindset. I didn't care about politics. Also those seemed like jokes. Now it's more mean spirited digs. Seems like Obama was off limits for some reason and there is plenty to make fun of.

SNL had its highest rated season since the early 1990s last year. I do agree the Trump jokes are relentless, but the material is plentiful. Their political skits are pretty good, but the weekend update jokes are really hit or miss.
That being said, SNL has been this way for 30 years. They throw a ton of shite at the wall, some sticks, some doesn't. People remember the highlights of yesteryear and think every current show has to compare or it's a dud. Nevermind the fact that shows sucked in the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s too. People remember Ferrell's cowbell skit, cheerleader skit, and a few Dubya impressions, and all of a sudden every shoe in the late 90s and early 2000s was great.

This is all very true. But, will any of the skits today be memorable like those are?

Maybe, maybe not. Probably with current younger people. Probably not for me just because I don't watch religiously like I did growing up and it doesn't speak to me like it did then. I'll say that Kate McKinnon is pretty brilliant in a lot of clips I've seen, political or otherwise.

It seems to cycle. About every third cast is really good, funny, talented. It's been that way throughout the show's history.

I haven't watched SNL consistently in probably 35 years. I'll hear about a funny skit or a good music performance and watch it online.
