I remember back on 2002, HBO did a doc about ecstasy. It was like a dad in his 40's in the midst of a midlife crisis hitting the rave scene with his kids and dropping ecstasy.

Stuck On A Truck at Toadsuck happens in Conway. So, it's got that going for it.

Conway isn't a bad place
3 colleges there, dry county, about 30 minutes from Little Rock.
Surprised this documentary wasn't in Pine Bluff... that's where all the drugs from Conway are coming from anyways

It's not just Arkansas, there's a small town in North La not for from my home that's overrun with meth.
Over the last 12 years I've probably seen 20 people I knew(Knew or knew their family) arrested.

The town is great.
unfortunately, there are a LOT of tiny rural towns around it that are absolute shitholes.. that's where the meth is

Yeah I was thinking the same thing
Conway isn't the hub of the drugs... it's the recipient... this documentary didn't want to do any of the hard digging

All the great HBO Docs are in Arkansas. Banging in Little Rock, West Memphis 3, Little Rock Central, Meth Storm...

Oh shite, I remember that. Wonder whatever happened to that guy?

Conway has like 2-3 super Baptist colleges and UCA. Dry town. I don’t think it’s terrible. I lived in Arkansas for a little over a year after college. I always felt Searcy, AR seemed the most methy.

ETA: even after having this happen (along with a few other sketchy incidents that are not isolated to just this area), it is by far one of my most favorite places to go for work. Outside of the insufferable hog fans and their weird obsession/hate for State fans, there was tons of good people in those hills.
I had a $25k rig- a $20k Polaris Mule with 1.1 miles on the odo and a brand new 16 ft. tandem axle utility trailer- stolen at the Courtyard by Marriott in Russellville the 1st night we rolled into town for a contract job. To this day I can't quite figure out how they, a) got the trailer out of the cubby hole I had it backed in, and b) broke the 4 locking points where the machine, trailer, hitch and truck were locked together, as all 4 points had to be broken for the rig to be completely unhooked.
All we could figure was it was manpower + a cordless cutoff, and/or a helluva lot of hacksaw blades...or a locksmith (which the police said wasn't outta the question due to the seemingly impossible task + the # of professional thieves lurking around.) Not one camera was watching the lot area we were parked in.
A week later the police found the trailer in Conway, and they figured the UTV was somewhere in Little Rock getting the ignition/serial #s swapped out after the Conway residents who went to Russelville to steal UTV's put it on their own trailer. They said it was very common around those parts for the meth heads to steal that particular setup and they love Polaris Rangers.
A redneck on meth is one ingenuitive SOB, and apparently we rode in to his hornet's nest in that part of the world.
The terrain and countryside north & south of there is God's country though. If there's one silver lining to the story, it is that we replaced the Ranger with a Mule Pro FXT and never looked back at the Polaris option thereafter. (And that I was able to fish multiple blue ribbon smallmouth streams in absolute isolation and hit the Little Red quite often for some big, wild browns.)

Uh, no. That’s just slightly over the top.
how exactly? only about 10% of people will ever be cured from meth addiction. this drug not only destroys the user, but also the users family. anyone dealing meth is actively destroying other peoples lives. unless the penalties are extremely harsh, people arent going to stop dealing it. the people currently on it are pretty much done, the only way to stop its spread is to stop new people from using it.

Someone here started a thread about some of his trashy friends having a trashy public Facebook feud about the groom leaving the wedding to go score some weed and the bride catching him tucking her friend in a garage or something. Anyway, he lives in Conway, Arkansas.
One of the goat threads on td.

I published a law review article in 2006 about the public health impact meth would have on the US. It is scary watching it play out.

Nothing wrong with Conway other than my ex wife (no pics) and her family live there, unfortunately so does my son currently.
A few years back when we would go visit it's a nice enough place, kinda sorta a Little Rock suburb but still has a main street with shops and stuff, so it's kinda small I think population is somewhere around 75k. From what I hear though drugs are becoming more and more of an issue, at least it isn't an arm pit like Pine Bluff or South Little Rock.

I was under the impression meth produced an abundance of energy and a desire to do weird tasks like household chores for days on end but that show was a portrayal of extreme lethargy and filthy living conditions.
Craziest part for me was finding out that the old lady who was the main focus of the show was still in her 40's.

I’ve not seen this but Conway is not a bad “city” at all. I have to go by for work every now and again and it’s nice, relatively speaking.
