I was on the crew of the one they filmed in the basin a couple years ago. Yes, saw them naked, sorry no pics. It takes about a 15 person crew to do the show, who are all getting paid a day rate. If they tap out early, job ends, so the crew takes some liberties. Think "thermacells". No way anyone is making it more than a night without one. 3 weeks in the swamp is s long time!

I've watched a few episodes... I'd probably get kicked off, cuz I can guarantee... us walking around naked all day. I'd be hitting it, or relentless in trying!! LoL

I always say to people who think they would make it “go spend 24 hours naked in your backyard”. I could not do it. Give me clothes, especially shoes. And I’d give it a good run.

The guy from Monroe that got stuck in the south La swamp said rubbing mud on you does not help with the mosquitoes.

Wonder what the film crew eats and drinks? Where do they sleep etc.?

There have been two episodes filmed on Andros Island in the Bahamas. The first episode the producers and film crew stayed at a dive lodge about 2 miles away from the naked couple. The couple were given food at least 3 days because they couldn’t figure out how to catch their own food. On the show they even complained about lack of water despite being a 5 minutes walk from a blue hole that had enough fresh water for 1,000 people.

The second show was the recen Naked and Afraid of Sharks. That show was total bullshite. The producers were chumming the waters close to the campers to make more sharks swim closer. Those four people were getting food brought to them from a nearby bonefish lodge. I’m sure some contestants don’t take supplied food, but I know two episodes they did.

I doubt "getting food given to them" happens very often. If you look at the before and after pics its easy to see those guys lose some serious weight. Not saying it hasn't happened, just not very often. The contestants would have been saying by now if it was often, despite the contracts.

If you can make a fire... burning pine needles and standing in smoke, getting that smell on you, does keep mosquitoes off.

Pretty crazy that you can die from a small wound without proper care.

Funny that these days our bodies are unable to recover like they did back then. There is no way you can tell us that cavemen, Indians (feather), etc didn't get scratches/cuts/wounds all the time...

well...the comment you are referring to was one of the dumbest things said on this site today.
Doofus watched some bullshite made up show that mocked survival to a stupid level for people to watch that are too stupid to use their own brain.

You don't die from cutting your finger unless you live in a sewerage tank.
Unless you cut yourself on something that injected something toxic into your cut when it cut you, no one dies from cutting their finger.

I've spent nights out in the swamp when we were building a cabin and have had many a cuts, and was bitten by hundreds of mosquitoes. I didn't have anythign to put on these cuts and I didn't get infections and i didn't get west nile virus either.
A simple cut on your finger is exposed for a day or so depending on the severity of it. don't be a moron and keep it clean for that time period and it'll heal itself.

Makes you wonder how our ancestors survived before modern firearms, pots to boil water, or a reliable way to start a fire.

They did it by not being pussies.

just remember this though, there wasn't nearly the pressure there is now on the fish or animals. When animals never heard BOOM or once every blue moon, they're a lot more at ease.

Also when fish dont see a 1000 diff lures and hear a million motors, they're easier to "fool" / catch
