Yep.

I watched a mock survival show years ago where a guy got a pretty bad cut on his finger, and without antibiotics was dead in weeks from the infection.

Pretty crazy that you can die from a small wound without proper care.

These people barely survive 21 days in the wild. Really makes you respect the survival skills of primitive man.

They have a hard time finding food because over hunting and other anthropogenic pressures have thinned out a lot of game animals.

But hell, even if there were plenty of game animals, you think they'd be able to kill them with primitive spears or snares?

Sometime look up the autopsy of the ice age man who was found in the Alps. He had multiple healed broken bones, among other problems. and parasites.

He grew up surviving. He didn't have a choice.

I may be wrong, but I think malaria has killed more humans than any other diseases.

These people aren't used to it, our ancestors and primitives created tools and learned skills to survive. For instance homeless people in alaska create snag nets out of not fishing line, to catch fish, because it's necessary

They sleep in tents not too far away with medical personnel if needed.

Saw an episode where a guy got caught stealing food from the crew at night because he and his partner hadn't eaten in several days.

Yep.

No fire to boil water, so you're surrounded by water that you can't drink.

Mosquitoes eating you alive because you've got no fire.

Even if you do kill an animal to eat, you can't cook it because you can't make a fire.

Can you cover yourself in mud to keep the mosquitoes off of you?

Makes you wonder how our ancestors survived before modern firearms, pots to boil water, or a reliable way to start a fire.

Generations of acquired knowledge. a 10 or 11 year old kid would already know how to start a fire, build a snare, where to find safe water, etc.

You talking about smearing mud all over your exposed skin to stop mosquitoes?

I've heard people say that. Fortunately, I've never had to prove it.

If you took a Neanderthal and threw him into a different landscape he'd probably be just as clueless.

True. This actually happened in Encino back in the early 90s. Fortunately, the caveman eventually learned to weez the juice and not be so crusty.
