I have a tag that has started running slow. My initial thought is the battery but I think when the battery starts getting weak the second hand twitches. Well, the second hand is acting normally. Could it still be the battery or does anyone have any idea what it could be? Thanks.

I'd just start by changing the battery because that's cheap and easy. Anything more advanced, take it to a watch repair guy.

Wut?

Take it in. Even if it is the battery, I'm having someone else take the back off my watch. Also, get an automatic and you don't have to worry about this

It's probably the battery. And I change my own. I have a caseback removal tool

Any local jeweler that offers watch repair will do.

I believe they do that 2 or 3 second jump on the second hand when battery is low?

Sounds like more to it. But as mentioned, it can't hurt to change a battery.

My tag is currently in the shop because it just kept stopping randomly, I changed the battery and it didn't help. Usually when battery is low on it the second hands waits 3 seconds then skips ahead.

They said it needed tuning.

I analyze expensive watch issues and make repairs as a side business which basically started as a hobby. With that said mail any Tag, Rolex, Cartier, Bregeut, etc....

Has anyone mentioned that TAG is trashy and cheap?

Tags that take batteries are trashy. Automatics FTW.

I bought this watch about 25 years ago. I don't think automatic was available.

Take it to the watch repair place on Florida Blvd, right next to Hollingsworth Richards Ford.

My tag was acting weird, thought it was the battery so I brought it to them. They opened it up and a connection was loose. Fixed it and didn't charge me.

I just got my tag back today. Was in the shop in New Jersey for 2.5 months. Its the only certified tag repair in the US. Mine is automatic. Will never buy another tag. You are supposed to get it cleaned and tuned every 5 years. Each time is 350 - 400 bucks. I have done it twice in 9 years because it stopped keeping good time. I called soon after purchasing as every week it would be off by 4-5 minutes. They said that was in the "acceptable range" for their automatic watches. Would rather change a battery every 5 years than fix the time every week. Eff Tag.

If X is a watch then you are an idiot. I'm sorry.

Automatic watches have to be serviced too.

They were. Automatic/mechanical is a much much much older technology than an electrically powered quartz movement. Think about it.

Mine does this because the battery pops out of the space. I have to remove the back and pop it back in. Hate that.
