Judging from the responses in the top states thread it seems like many older posters say that LA wasnt always as bad of a state as it is today. I hear this from older members in my family that I still have down there as well.
Was just wondering what some of the older posters on here thought.

It's always been this bad. At least since I've been alive. But I was a kid and didn't know any better so I enjoyed it.

Louisiana has always been corrupt as shite. That should awnser your question.

That would depend heavily on who you ask.

It was great until they took the old slot machines and cigarette machines out of the bars.

I used to walk uphill both ways in the snow to school, now I walk uphill both ways in the snow to work to avoid the public transportation.

I never realized just how bad it was until I got older and started traveling. This shite is bad, yet I'm still living here for some reason.

I honestly don't know what I'd do all day if TD was blocked at my office. I guess I'd work?

It was a paradise prior to 1860

Law degree, don't practice law. Been thinking of pulling the trigger on taking the bar here now that they've become a Universal Bar Exam state, but this summer's the first time they'll have administered it so I haven't.

It's always been bad. Growing up people would always say "it's going downhill" but it never was uphill at anytime in my life. Once in awhile we may get a slight bumped but there is too much corruption and too much incompetence in government that causes our best to leave for greener pastures.

gotcha...carry on...I dont want to derail a solid La bashing thread

It waxes and wanes a bit on its degree of shittiness, but it's always been shitty.

When the price of oil is high, Louisiana is a pretty liveable state especially the Acadiana area. But when that price crashes, Louisiana exposes itself as a Third World country. .....It's been that way or at least 50 years.
The public schools overall have always been inadequate. The politicians are not so much corrupt as they are ineffectual and the people retreat into parochialism and NIMBYism
But we have CULCHA!!!!!!!!

The problem is that the worst elements of our society breed the most.
