Never understand how midwest states make out so well in these "lists". Traveled there a lot, know many people socially and business wise from there, they are BORED to tears. These stories are put together by prudish liberal whips who don't contribute to society or know how to enjoy life.

I live in Addison currently. Not cookie cutter here, but have place bids on a few homes further north.

Dude, I bash Louisiana because I grew up there for 18 years , went through the public school system, and realized that unless you want to be in the Gulf (like my Dad) or at a plant (like a few of my cousins) that's all you mostly have to make good/great money. There are outliers obviously, but folks here are delusional sometimes about where they live. I offer a perspective from both sides of the fence.

The things I miss most from home are simply regional (Mardi Gras / Crawfish / Jazz Fest / etc.). The few bids I've placed on are for houses ranging from 2800-3300 sqft. It takes me 17 minutes to get from Addison to Las Colinas. It takes 16 minutes to get from Addison to the outskirts of McKinney. If that's too long of a drive for you then that's your prerogative.

I make great money and have the ability to expand my career with other companies moving here faster than Baton Rouge expanding I-10. I found out the other day that Toyota is building a track in Denton. How fricking cool is that? There are two lakes to go boating here if that's your thing (it's not mine). I do miss trawling though!

Sure property taxes are high and I spend money on tolls but the schools are top notch and the roads are always in pristine condition.

Can you say that about Louisiana?
