Sorry man but onion rings at my joint take longer to cook than his entree(a sandwich) because they are made 100% from scratch and the process is longer than putting a sandwich together.
I even had my manager explain this to him but it was no use.
I seriously think some people find ways/methods so they can justify it when they don't tip. I once had a guy who was going through his drinks faster than I could refill them. As soon as I would bring him a new soda, he was already done with it in like 30 seconds. I still had other tables to wait on so I couldn't refill it right away and he would always signal me or call my name when I was helping my other tables letting me know he wanted a refill. I probably refilled it 8 or 9 times throughout the shift and he gave me a crappy tip. I bet him going through drinks so fast was his gimmick to make himself feel better about tipping me poorly.
The expiditor of your restaurant failed then. You have to put a hold call on the sandwich until after the apps have been fried. Once the rings are in the water then you call for the pantry station to make the sandwich.
Pantry stations know to hold their tickets from the printer for calls, just like a good broil/grill cook knows when to call out he is flipping the steak on an order so that way saute and fry stations can start their part of that order.
So if the entree does come out before the appetizer, the restaurant did in fact fail in their duties.
Your manager is an idiot for not setting the system up better.

I swear these people are professionals who go from restraurant to restaurant making up BS to get discounted food.
Of my 4 groups of black women:
-One group got their meal for free because "I had a hair in my food" even though the hair looked oddly similar to the hair of one of the black women at the table and no one in our kitchen
-One group got their entree comped off because "It was too cold" but the food in question was ribs.
-One group got their entree comped off because it was "too spicy to enjoy". Sorry but if you order something called NEW ORLEANS CAJUN PASTA AND SHRIMP you need to know what you are getting into.
-The most recent group got a $20 gift card because there was a 45 minute wait to get in. Sorry but that was just the wait time, what if we gave everyone a $20 gift card? Don't want to wait 45 minutes than go somewhere else or come back another time. But of course the group didn't make a stink about it until they got their check.

Why not?
Because it's someone's receipt. So first and foremost, it isn't really public information. Secondly, it has personal information on it (like some of Sapp's CC info, for example). And more than anything, it's just not anybody's business anyway.
Just bitch about Warren Sapp being a shitty tipper that day. I have some cousins who are in the service industry and they have posted receipts online before...not only is it unprofessional, but it's also stupid and can get you hella fired.

We are way too busy to do such things. We have been on a 45 minute wait constantly since we opened. We can't just cross reference tickets and "fire the entree after the appetizer has gone out".
We have different sectors of the kitchen work on different things. The cooks who prepare the onion rings are not the same people who work on the sandwiches/burgers. Also everything in our kitchen is hand made from scratch so its not like you just throw things in the microwave.

Yeah, I use to make them in college
pre-preped/peeled onion
onion slicer(4 secs)
drop output in wash and break appart(10secs)
use strainer to grab rings(6 secs)
places strainer in flour and dust rings(10 secs)
take strainer out of flour and pur contents into fry basket(10 secs)
drop basket

That shite pisses me off. I have only asked to speak to a manager once, and that was when I was given the wrong meal, sent it back, and was still charged for the wrong meal. I explained that it was probably an error in communication, and was given a "free" meal, which I still paid for because I hate free shite.
