Marine Corps War College simulates a conflict with Russia over Poland, with China and NK taking the opportunity to get chippy. TL;DR, casualties on the scale of WWI, probably goes nuclear after the first week.
Maybe a poliboard topic, but it's such a shitshow over there.

Don’t underestimate the lesser adversaries of the US.
Some Marine Col. Wargamed as opfor Iran or something of the like and sent a carrier strikegroup down to the bottom of the sea. Used low tech and overwhelmed the systems in place. Of course the Navy declared shenanigans and invalidated the kills.
We are not invincible.

I can almost guarantee Moscow, Beijing, and Pyongyang are obliterated.
Other than that, I’d imagine there’s a US City or two that don’t make it. London is definitely fricked as well.
Other than that, idk how it ends.

Much more invincible than the likes of Russia, China, and NK.
We win the war I think.

That question really depends. If the existence of our adversary is at stake then YES it goes nuclear.
If we are fighting a war over a third party country such as Ukraine, Syria, or Taiwan. I highly doubt it goes nuke unless there are invasion troops moving in on the homeland

This has to be the first move by the US otherwise we’re in trouble.

That's why it is essential for our military to have a diverse set of weapons systems that can respond to certain demands.
It is why systems such as the A-10 will continue to find a place on the modern battlefield

First move has to be to eliminate the AA and C&C

Seems it is kind of crazy to see this wargame take on as Russia is wrecking shop over there and taking nay land it wants, them magically they get a 100 billion dollars to invest in the military.
Then we only get 200 and waste it on computer programs.
While I dont dispute the outcome, I do think the setup was designed to steer this war game a certain way.
1. I dont see Russia having zero opposition as it marches around taking countries in the build up.
2. I dont see them getting an influx of money of about twice their normal military annual budget.

Did he wargame the next step where we obliterate Iran for sinking our carrier?

The best thing we have going for is the oceans separating us and the world’s largest armies

Did they address domestics issues?
EMP and/or a grid takedown will frick us up, not to mention destruction of the economy.

We’ll do the same to them. In which case, this turns into something like a WWI type war equipment wise.
Which leads me to a question, in what military aspect are we lagging behind in when it comes to advancement?
I know as a Marine infantryman, what we ride around in, aavs, etc. are pretty fricking old.

the United States still maintains nearly 800 military bases in more than 70 countries and territories abroad—from giant “Little Americas” to small radar facilities. Britain, France and Russia, by contrast, have about 30 foreign bases combined.

Yeah, no way the world sits idly by and allows them to annex part of or all of a sovereign country....

There was a short period after the fall of the Soviet Union that some thought we were at world peace. But it is obvious now that China and Russia desire to dominate/cause trouble in the world. They want to swing the big hammer. There have been wars for thousands of years and I suspect this trend will continue till there is none left to resist or no-one left.

I did this back in the 80s when I was stationed in Germany. We called it REFORGER.

Most of Europe has all but let their military capabilities got to rot. Germany is in especially terrible shape.
