Haven’t owned a truck in a LONG time, but now want to get one. Want it to be able to pull stuff, but nothing ridiculous (probably a mid-size camper or boat at most). Will probably look for a slightly used 2019 or 2020 model.

Would like a 4-door so the kids can ride comfy in the back, and am looking at the full-size truck models (e.g. like a Titan, not a Tacoma...or an F-150/250 vs a Ranger). Preferably leather seats and cameras, but besides that don’t need any ridiculous bells and whistles.

What are the best brands out there today that I should look into?

Dodge
Chevy
GMC
Ford
Nissan
Toyota

Am I missing any? Do any of these stand out from the rest in terms of reliability or value, or is it just a matter of aesthetic preference?

I know they cost a fortune and I do not need truck nuts.

Admins - please move to the Outdoor Board if I’ll get better input there

Look, if you're not serious about this, there is no need of bringing it here for advice.

Go test drive them and buy what you like. The brands you listed are all reliable trucks. The Toyota however will supposedly last 50 years or 4 million miles with nothing but oil changes and still be worth 90% of its original value but it does not have Bluetooth.

Is this your way of telling me they don’t make Rangers anymore?

Toyota is generally considered the most reliable but also the most dated. I'd have no problem buying any of the brands you listed though. I've owned a Sierra, 3 Rams and a F150 and they've all been solid vehicles for me.

I’ve been driving an 07 Tundra since new. Had my first major maintenance expense last year. No oil leaks. Everything on it still works.

You can get a manual transmission with the Toyota. I think that's the only one.

I'm not a big fan of Toyotas in general, but they do make good trucks, and I think the Toyota is the winner here.

ETA: The Tacoma; I don't know about the other one.

If you're getting leather, you're usually going to get bells and whistles.

The new '21 F-150 interiors are really nice

Ford will occasionally put leather seats in an XLT. It's usually during some kind of promotion they run once per year.

If you are talking about doing much pulling at all, I would probably go with a 3/4 ton. You might have a bit of trouble finding the combination of options that you want, so I would buy any of the brands you listed.

I think the Ram Classic is your best current value. I'd go for the Warlock trim but a Tradesman is probably fine for your needs.

The best deal you will find is the titan.

You can get an 18, under 30k miles, 4x4, and leatger interior for 27ish.

The good, driveline is great. Service is cheap. Mileage and power aren't bad and better than most.

The bad, nissans prefer to be run. If you're going to put miles on it daily, you'll never have electrical issues.

If you don't, you'll get the gremlins around 150k.

Nissan not the most popular because it's kind of basic but comes from the factory with 5 year 100k warranty. I have one I got for cheap. Motor is a beast too.

Listen, buy a tundra for whatever it cost. They are perfect and will last longer than any other truck.

My dad would roll over in his grave if I ever bought another Toyota.

30 years ago I bought a 4wd Toyota pickup. Dad had a fit. I told him "But Dad you drive a Mercedes." He answered "I didn't fight the Germans I fought the Japs". I don't think he ever forgave them for the brutality he witnessed.

I would normally recommend a Tundra, but I have a baaaddd feeling gas is going to be $5/gallon in a couple of years and 15 mpg is going to be tough pill to swallow.

Look for something with the best mpg possible.
