SFP is likely correct that Kyren was informed recently that his football career is over

Football career maybe.... a mutual friend spoke with him recently and he said he was told everything was gonna work out, my wife(no pics) also works in the legal system and said there was very little confidence on the prosecution side.

Word is he was in a wreck in Houston lastnight and it's got to him and he killed himself

Brister was drunk and fled the scene. We have to face reality only thing different is their skin color.

Punchy you have NO clue about mental illness. In my family there has been 2 suicides and believe me neither my brother or grandfather was in his right mind when it happened. The bottom line is they weren’t capable of thinking the right way.I lived it and saw it and did everything in my power to help to no avail. Its not a black and white issue .

This only matters for compensation (civil cases). For instance if the deceased driver was found to be 20% at fault then he could only recover 80% of his damages.

The charges against Lacy were criminal.

I understand that, I'm just pointing out it's unfair to say "Brister wasn't totally at fault" because his case went to trial but "Lacy is guilty" when he died before he had his day in court.

There is no way to know this, just as there is no way to know whether Lacy was drunk.

fled the scene.

They both did.

And hitting a pedestrian in the dark crossing a road is not in the same galaxy as CAUSING a wreck where someone was killed.

And bringing race into this is moronic. Perhaps Lacy would’ve gotten off. He killed himself before his day in court.

Too blame unfairness at this early stage is dumb.

I don't understand why Lacy isn't afforded the same theory of defense?

He is.

Is there an assumption that he was drunk that I’m not aware of?

Well we know for sure that one happened.

All we have is hearsay and one sided story on the other. In which Lacy didn’t directly hit anyone.

One had a NFL qb dad and likely high dollar legal help.

The other didn’t.

Someone should have told him that a long time ago. He'd probably still be here.

Kyren didn’t hit anyone. Brister actually hit and killed somebody. Knowing he hit someone and fled the scene. Just supposedly pass a car and thr oncoming car swerved into the other lane. Kyren probably didn’t know the guy crashed bc the accident happened behind him.

No, Lacy chose to end his life before a trial, sentence, or plea could be entered. But keep deluding yourself that everything is racist and blacks are oppressed.

Henry Ruggs was drunk and killed someone while driving 127 mph. He might be gettting out in 3 years and his offense seems on par with Lacy's.

Your comment lacks maturity and understanding of the situation. I used to think similarly, but life experiences and gaining knowledge about the subject educated me

It is a sad thing and the young man made mistakes.

Henry Ruggs got 3-10 years and will likely serve closer to 3. He was drunk, driving over 150, and a woman burned to death. Lacy’s NFL career was done, but he would still have been a young man after release. LINK

I think his incident was not that different than Jalen Carters incident where two people died and he fled the scene.
He was allowed to plead No Contest paid a fine and was done.
He was still drafted in the 1st round and just won a Super Bowl.
Lacey could have gotten through this and been ok. It's just a sad situation all around.

quote:

On January 15, 2023, at approximately 2:45 a.m., a serious car crash occurred resulting in the deaths of University of Georgia staff member Chandler LeCroy and football player Devin Willock. The collision, which occurred in East Athens after the Bulldogs had been celebrating their second consecutive national championship earlier in the evening, was believed by police to have occurred as a result of street racing involving LeCroy, who was driving a 2021 Ford Expedition, and Carter, who was driving a 2021 Jeep Trackhawk. LeCroy, whose blood alcohol content was 0.197, more than twice the legal limit at the time of the crash, veered off the road after failing to make a proper turn at a high speed. She struck at least two utility poles, downing one of them, and trees before the car came to a stop against the door of an apartment building, blocking the resident inside until the wreckage could be cleared away. Willock, who was not wearing his seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. Two other passengers were injured. It was estimated that both cars reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour (160 km/h). LeCroy's speedometer indicated she had been traveling at 83 miles per hour (134 km/h) when it broke during the crash.[26][27][28] Carter had previously been cited for traffic violations three times during the fall semester, twice by campus authorities and once by Athens police for traveling at 89 miles per hour (143 km/h) in a 45 miles per hour (72 km/h) zone.[29]

On March 1, 2023, an arrest warrant was issued for Carter for his involvement in the accident, with charges brought against him for reckless driving and street racing. That night, Carter turned himself in and was released on a $4,000 bond.[30][31] He pleaded no contest to the charges on March 16, and was given 12 months of probation, along with a $1,000 fine, and ordered to complete 80 hours of community service and a driving course

Comparative fault is a concept in the civil justice system. The criminal system doesn’t have comparative fault.

Depressed and stressed people do crazy things.

Brand new information.

You are trying to absolve/minimize a guy of directly hitting and killing a father of two and knowingly driving away because it was dark.
