In a lot of rural areas, Walmart is the only place that sells ammo. I know near our hunting camp that is the case
Seems like a good opportunity for a mom and pop gun store.
The wonders of a free market.

They can order online, save money, and have it shipped directly to their home unless they live in a shite state.

Good for the local gun stores.
Walmart just virtue signalling, will not make a dent in supply.

I find the gun issue to be quite interesting on the financial side of things.
Ruger and Smith & Wesson (AOBC) stocks are down 70% or more since Trump won the election. If you're viewed as lenient on guns, you're actually bad for business.

I've bought many shotgun shells there but never pistol ammo. I want high quality ammo for my pistol.

Yeah, I buy their Federal 100 round shotgun stuff for like $20.

When I heard about the shooting I thought to myself "Why didn't someone hit up the sporting goods section and fire back?"
Guess that won't be an option anymore.

Why? So no one can stop the next shooter who strikes at their store? Do they WANT more blood in their aisles?

I'd imagine that WalMart has looked into this and determined that doing this won't cost them much of anything.

Walmart's chief executive, who also called on the US Congress to pass stricter gun laws, said he expected the changes to reduce the firm's share of the ammunition market from about 20% to a range of 6% to 9%
