Just like Entergy, Oreck, Raising Canes, etc..gotta move to a successful Fortune 500 state with prospering major metros full of amenities, great public schools, lower crime, better infrastructure, etc..to be able to recruit the kind of sharp graduating kids needed to grow the company.

In other words, it seems like a poor model to move to ATL and pay the same. So if the suggestion is, no you have to pay more in ATL then hell maybe you should have payed more in BR to start?

They’ll presumably move to Dunwoody. The city and state will subsidize the move. Most execs will buy in East Cobb, Roswell, and Alpharetta and use the public school system. It’s not insanely more expensive in the burbs, it’s just more than if you bought a house pre 2020 at a 3%.

Far better quality of life. Also, the airport matters.

Kudos to Brandon Landry for at least admitting the problem out loud:

Baton Rouge is not an attractive place to recruit and retain a talented workforce. Expect more growing companies to follow in their footsteps.

Voting in incompetent buffoons like JBE, Sharon Broome et al is not going to fix the issue either

unless someone wants to create walk-on's 2.0, they are not going to be able to sell the building in its current configuration. It is very nice, but catered to one client only.

Honestly with all the companies that start here only to move away, shoot your shot. There’s a pretty good chance you’ll be successful and then be able to move everything to Dallas, Houston or Atlanta like everybody else does.

Wow dude quit on his hometown. It must be bad. I don’t think I could ever give up on where I’m from.

quote:

Walk-On’s founder and Chair Brandon Landry is supportive of his hometown of Baton Rouge—he was born and raised here and attended LSU where he played basketball—and says the company could not have grown into a household name without its Capital Region roots. The move to Atlanta, he says, is about positioning the company in a place where it can attract talent to keep growing.

Is he moving to Atlanta with it? I realize he has the wherewithal to have residences in both places, but man Atlanta is really a cultural letdown especially if you're from Southeast Louisiana. I couldn't do it.

Papa Johns recently announced a similar decision. They relocated their official HQ to Atlanta a couple of years ago, rebranded it their “Global Headquarters”, but kept a large presence in Louisville. Now they are selling their old corporate headquarters in Louisville because the remaining workforce has no need for such a large space.

quote:

Citing changing workforce needs, homegrown pizza empire Papa Johns plans to sell its Louisville corporate office.

The campus at 2002 Papa Johns Blvd. in Jeffersontown will be put on the market next week, company spokesman Harrison Sheffield confirmed.

“Since returning to in-office work last year, we’ve determined that the current Papa Johns campus no longer fits the needs of our Louisville workforce," the company said in a provided statement. "While we are putting the campus up for sale, we remain committed to the Louisville Metro area and will maintain a corporate hub here."

However, they aren’t completely abandoning Louisville. Several departments will remain.
quote:

The company's IT, supply chain and legal teams will still be based in the Louisville area, as well the executives who lead those teams. Its finance shared services teams will also remain Louisville based.

Why are restaurant chains moving their headquarters to Atlanta? It seems Atlanta has become a hub for them.
quote:

Atlanta is a hub for fast-food chain innovation. Georgia’s largest city provides access to a larger airport with domestic and international markets and a larger talent pool.

Arby’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Chicken Salad Chick have also relocated to Atlanta recently.

That’s in addition to a long list of restaurant chains that are also located in the Atlanta metro area, including: Chick-fil-a, Popeyes, Waffle House, Focus Brands (Schlotzsky's, Carvel, Cinnabon, Moe's Southwest Grill, McAlister's Deli, Auntie Anne's)
