Hopefully all of these restaurants and retail stores stores that are closing will open up more opportunity for more local business.

I know people will not agree, but frick corporations. I think smaller towns in which people within the community are able to own a living and take pride in the shite they built, etc is the key to a successful America (I mean you need corporate to some degree, but corporate America is what really hurts this country..

the one by me always has a mile long line at the pharmacy and at least 5 people in line at the register. However the CVS across the street from them is almost always empty. I stop there often to grab something quick and alot of times I'm the only customer in the store.

They would do more business if they could fill prescriptions faster than 3-4 hours and didn’t have lines for pickup around the building. Only reason I haven’t changed pharmacies is bc it’s a PITA to transfer most of my prescriptions to another.

Went to one the other day in Topeka, KS and the whole store was lock down. Damn near everything I wanted, required an attendant to unlock it so I could by stuff. I'm talking bars of soap, deodorants, etc.

It was ludicrous.

I went to an independent pharmacy after that.

I laugh every time I drive by a walgreens or cvs and see lines wrapped around the building. I get they are convenient, but the convenience is not worth waiting 2 hours when I can go to an independent and be in/out in 5 minutes

It is really not. Just go to an independent, tell them you want your scripts transferred and they will be happy to call walgreens and move all your stuff over. Of course if you have controlled substances, you will just have to ask your doc next time to send it to the new place

Between them and CVS they can both go to hell. Worst service, worst employees, worst experience you will ever have right now in most locations. They all brought this on themselves for being poorly run and managed

As someone up there said also it is the easiest thing in the world considering the pharmacy you are switching to does all the calling and leg work. That is absolutely no excuse today with electronic Rx sharing. Stop giving them business and let them all die

Maybe this means they’ll be able to fully staff the ones they keep open.

One of the ones near us was closing early some days a few months ago because they didn’t have employees to work.

They are a shite company and I will always choose a local pharmacy over the circus that Walgreens calls a pharmacy.

Apparently, every Rite-Aid is shutting down in Michigan. That's going to make for some weird streetcorners for a while.

If you have too many stores in one area, one is bound to fail.

I think in North Gulfport on US 49 there are 2 Walgreens on different sides of the road.

100 percent of their profit comes from 75 percent of their locations..fwiw they are know as last person out in some of these distressed communities.. they did it because they knew they were providing a service required for daily living…

Us pharmacy are struggling more than international.. I believe they are scheduled to sell off boots (they b in their sticker wba) …

They are also separating from village medical which they recently did to help the company… via diversification..

Idk.. all pharma are struggling a little in us.. even with our ridiculous prices.. gotta say the industry confuses me..

Fwiw .. I bought today. It is in my dividend bucket.. I had some so added to dollar cost avg.. very very little ..but they are old and have a lot of locations already..

Shrinkage has become a big and serious problem for them.. especially in the stores in distressed locations… they tried reacting to it.. I suspect these high shrinkage stores are also the 25 percent of stores that are not profitable….. and the ones closing ..i

Amazingly our CVS has become tolerable.

The one we use isn't underperforming for lack of business by any standard. They are, almost certainly, underperforming due to piss poor management.

ETA: My observations are almost strictly from dealing with the actual pharmacy.

The pharmacy of the one we used to go to, when we first moved to the area, was open 9-9 during the week, 9-7 in on Saturday and 10-6 Sunday. Now they are 9-7 during the week, 10-7 Saturday and 10-6 Sunday and also closed for 1:30-2:30 every day for a meal break.
