Will buy some toilet paper online now. I don't like buying toilet paper. Makes me feel like everyone thinks I'm holding one in.
I don't buy TP anywhere but online. Amazon Dash buttons will change your life.
I mean, not really a whole lot, but change it they will. Down to two rolls? Push that bitch. The days of forgetting that you're low on toilet paper and having to wipe your arse with a sock when you run out are over.

Amazon has been baking in a lot of other perks to Prime than just shipping. You are short sighted if you think that's the only reason people are Prime members.

UPS and FedEx actually don't make much on Amazon shipments...consumer deliveries are more expensive and Amazon has such demanding deadlines.

The common stuff gets bought st the store because I typically need it right now as opposed to two days from now.
That's the whole idea behind Amazon pantry. You get auto shipments of common items at a deeper discount.

Just think if WMT hired 5 dudes per store with uhaul sized trucks.
That's 20k+ delivery vehicles in the US spread all over with existing warehouses.

i have music (google), cloud storage (google), and movies (netlfix) from other services - what am i overlooking?
granted $99 per year is nothing, but i have noticed i dont even get my stuff in two days much anymore (this could also be a UPS/USPS issue too i suppose)

Not sure if you are just trolling or serious. There are plenty of threads here that give numerous examples of the point of it.
Perhaps for you, it is not needed but plenty of people see the value of Amazon and it's services.
If you can not see the point then you are just not looking.

Walmart has the ability to compete with Amazon. Competition is good for the consumer.

Already in motion. Amazon has bought a fleet of planes and is converting them to cargo planes and long haul trucks.

Walmart is terrible. Almost all of the items I have purchased too longer than expected. In on instance, the package was delayed for several days and when I finally called they let me know the package had been destroyed.
There is no way they can even pretend to compete with Amazon.
And, I don't hate on Walmart. I shop there from time to time and I have made several online purchases. They just never seem to turn out the way they should.

And you don't have a problem with that?

Yep. You know what WMT has that Amazon doesn't?
4600 stores.
40 major DC's.
Another 40+ perishable DC's.
If they can find a way to use each location as a ship point...
And walmart has a fleet of 6000 18 wheelers

I signed up for their "shipping pass" free 1-month trial last year. Places 4 orders that qualified for free 2-day shipping. 3 of the 4 took more than the 2 days to get there. One of those took over a week.
I called their customer service department and it was every bit as bad as you can imagine.
frick Walmart.
I've placed like a hundred Amazon prime orders. They've never messed up. Not once.
Amazon ain't gotta do shite besides keep being awesome.

How is that better than Amazon?
Because Amazons truly free shipping starts at $49, and in no way gets there anywhere close to 2 days

Cad needs to stop downvoting folks pointing out how inept Walmart can be and how awesomely fantastic Amazon is 99% of the time.

except for the ridiculous "substitutions" they pull.
Only when the item is not in stock. Then they show you what they are substituting. If you don't want the substituted item you can decline it right then and there and your bill is credited.

All for it if Walmart can match amazons selection. If I can buy name brand clothes, appliance parts, streaming video, name bramd dog food, etc. And still get ridiculous items like sex toys for 5 bucks as a gag gift for my wife (and by gag gift, I mean it was a ball gag), then I'm all for trying walmart. But if it's the same shite as the Walmart down the street, who cares. I mean I don't know if there has been anything I've looked for that Amazon doesn't have. And most of it is prime.
