its SOP, I asked one day if the doc was in and she said he doesn't get here for at least another hour !!!!!!!!!!
she said the doctor wants to see as many people as fast as he can so they make sure he has at least 5 patients already waiting before he arrives. she said that's how all the doctors do it
I asked to never be the first appt again, I always make sure im like 6th in line in the apt book now and I still wait but its only like a 30 minute wait now

There has to be a better way. Doctors office waiting times are ridiculous. I love when they trick you and move you to an exam room then you wait another 45 minutes staring at pain smiley pictures.

Or when they send the PA in to see you before the Dr comes in.

This was scheduled 6 months ago

This happened often at my kid’s pediatrician because he would not turn away a sick child. (He did at least have separate sick and well waiting rooms. I had no problem because sometimes it was one of mine getting worked in.
Where I have a huge problem and don’t have a problem making a scene, is having to wait like the OP describes , is in a place that charges a cancellation fee for being over 15 minutes late. If you expect me to be on time, you need to be on time.

Yeah I love it when they get you to come in at 8 and I see the doctor pulling up at 9:30. Probably had nice breakfast and 9 rounds at the club.

He is LSU grad so I am liking the tailgating idea. He is specialist so I am stuck

I'd skip the yearly checkup BS. IMO, it's totally unnecessary. All they're going to tell you is crap you already know. Eat better, lose weight. They aren't going to find the cancer slowly eating away at you or the heart attack creeping up. So why go?
The whole waiting room thing IS horrible though. Times 2 at the pediatrician with your kid. At least most pediatricians have a sick waiting room and a well check waiting room.
Restaurants do it with the pagers or texts so why couldn't they do it at the dr?

No I have to have exam, bloodwork every 6 months for a liver issue. (Even though I think it’s nothing but genetics, they have convinced my wife it’s critical.
What’s bullshite is he is going to say that we can’t tell anything without bloodwork which I have to fast to do so he will order that and I will do the bloodwork and then get a call in week or so saying I am fine.
I usually remind them of this fact and get bloodwork done week before but I was out of town last two weeks.
Hour number 3

shite son, just be glad you can get your hip replacement surgery within a few weeks of being told you need it. You could be in Canada, France, GB, etc and have to wait months and months and months.

Fatty liver with elevated enzymes?
Posted on 3/10/20 at 11:38 am to TutHillTiger
I have chronic sinus issues that have been a problem for a year - I've tried the antibiotics, I've tried the OTC stuff, I've tried the decongestants, nothing is working. So I wait 4 months for a gen pract to tell me that I need to go to a specialist. Fine. I try to schedule it? First appointment available for the ONLY sinus doc my insurance will let me see is in OCTOBER. Since Oschner has bought up all of the hospitals on the Northshore, the quality has gone to absolute shite.

Does it take 6 months to get into your GP? Sounds like you need to find a new doc

Is that a way of asking the OP if he’s an alcoholic?
Posted on 3/10/20 at 11:44 am to Jake88
I imagine about 80% of the people on this board have that.
Go out, lose 30 pounds, and cut out alcohol.

So you are not there because you feel bad right? Reschedule that shite in June or something, people are not as sick then.. But frick waiting that long. Do you really want to be in there for a long time with all kind of sick people?

Oschner has been trying to hire some ENTs (not sure if they were ever successful) for all of their locations, but the job terms were stupid. Was like 1 in 2 call days and I'm sure the pay wasn't fantastic. They need to bite the bullet and probably contract with some other ENTs in the area.
