The 22-story Marriott at the base of the towers had no chance.
The top of the south tower crushed the middle of it, and the north end was demolished by the collapse of the north tower.
BTW the top 15 to 20 floors of the south tower were what crushed the middle of the Marriott. Those didn’t pancake down with the rest of the tower, from what I’ve seen. But I’m not a world renowned expert with Chinese work experience.
