There will be crime scene photos. that may have been his empty pistol.

The guy was arrested for murder, so maybe the other cop gave him up right away (assuming that is a taser he's dropping)

I have not fact checked this, but these numbers, if true are incredible:

quote:

Just last month, in the 31 days of March, police in the United States killed more people than the UK did in the entire 20th century. In fact, it was twice as many; police in the UK only killed 52 people during that 100 year period.

[In Canada, the] total number of citizens killed by law enforcement officers in the year 2014 was 14; that is 78 times fewer people than the US.

This high number in March increased the average for police killings from every 8.5 hours, to nearly 1 police killing every 6.5 hours in the US.

On average, US police kill people at a rate 70 times higher than any of the other first world countries as they “protect and serve” the American citizens.

I try not to prognosticate too much, but this video is so almost unreal that it looks fake, but sadly isn't. This story is going to be the spark that gets all police officers wearing cameras. It's a start in reform.

Not sure if that's okay. Thinking "no".

We gotta be careful what rights we give away by accepting bullshite like that.

because I don't run from them and stop when told to do so

follow their orders and you don't get shot, pretty simple

you flee, you get shot

lol, you can always count on these sort of guys to show up in these threads on here

In the original thread on here someone posted the story that was published before the video came out and IIRC it said that other officers and witnesses corroborated his story. I don't think the other cop gave him up.

UK cops killed only 52 people? We had many more officers than that getting killed...let alone criminals

How were these cops not aware that they were being filmed?

They need a citation for that number. It is almost impossible to believe. The others, though, aren't.

Not really. Just because a suspect is running away, or in this case jogging, doesn't mean it's open season on them

Chase the non-threat down and put him in cuffs? Nah. Let's shoot him to death in the back.

I believe these numbers but for some perpective BBC says that since 1792, UK has seen over 4000 officers killed in the line of duty.

I used 4500, 4500 over 225 years.

In the US, around 3800-4000 officers have died in the line of duty 1990. Theres a ton of trust issues between civilians and police in the US and it's unlikely it will change anytime soon.

Has anyone mentioned how the cop and victim got that far away from the vehicle to start with?

It will also be interesting to read what the police report says took place
If there's anything in this world that you can bank on being insanely misleading and void of facts, it's a fricking police report.

Yeah... What's really going to sink the shooter isn't just the video... Its the completely false police report coupled with Slager completely lying. Should be entertaining to watch at trial if it gets that far.

No doubt. But I'm curious if the officer wrote that the suspect took his taser and thats why he fired 8 shots.
