Fair enough. Is that something the cops could have reasonably assumed?

Are there links somewhere in this thread to read up on it?

What happened to the cop?

I think people should have a healthy fear that something very bad will happen to them if they run from the cops. Now it seems like people just fight for the rights of criminals.

and yes I think the world would be better off without you.

I swear boy....
The Father's attorney released it per their wishes.

Newly released video of a fatal police shooting in April 2017 shows an officer firing a deadly shot at an unarmed 16-year-old who had jumped over a fence and was running away. Police in Fresno, California, say that three different official departments have ruled the shooting justified.

It's generally a felony. Pretty strong deterrent. Can't say death seems to be a good penalty for fleeing.

Fearing the cops? Not a place I want to live.

If the daycare being closed is a factor in why it wasnt a big deal to shoot towards it, it also means children were not in danger whatsoever. This makes it even worse for the cop as there was no impending danger regarding the daycare.
Kids there: Shot through window, killed child.
Kids not there: No immediate threat.
Either scenario is flat out stupid and deserving of murder charges.

the daycare situation is the variable, should the police have known if there were children there or not

Fearing the cops if you run or disobey their orders. Not just the fearing the cops for no reason. If you don't do anything wrong you will never fear the cops. You will look for them when you're in trouble. That's what separates bad people from good people.

A fear of getting arrested and facing charges should be the fear people have of cops.

Fleeing from police should be a prison sentence, not a death sentence. It seems like people fight for the rights for cops to kill people for whatever reason they like.

Just another reason to hate saggy pants. I guess what’s in nowadays, is these urban youths wearing saggy pants that are skinny jeans.

You know what would have avoided this whole situation? not running from the cops and hanging out with a murderer. The officer probably shouldn't have shot him, but I really don't care that he did. That's how I feel about it. Criminals get zero sympathy from me when they do dumb shite and it ends badly for them.

I understand that cops have a very difficult job as there are lots of pieces of shot out there, but this is an asinine take.

We shouldnt fricking fear public employees. We shouldn’t fear law enforcement. And we certainly should fear for our damn lives just because we run from a cop.

You think a bunch of 16 year olds drinking should be afraid they may get shot if they run from the cops?

And believe it or not, this is a much more widespread sentiment than you may think. One of my first roused debates on TD involved this same issue with another fleeing-shooting by police. I was caught completely off guard by the amount of people who shared that exact sentiment....you run, bullets should fly.

What I’m about to ask has nothing to do with this situation, but what if you’re not doing anything wrong and a cop decides you are?

Guess they approve of the southern sheriff stereotype the rest of the country laughs at.

And what about a bit of an uptick in police bullets flying wildly in public places? Seems a bit irresponsible.
