Goto the Army or prison. That was the choice I had at the time so military didn’t seem so bad

You can’t have it both ways. It’s the typical thing that people repeat because it sounds good. If you defended the flag you should be against anyone burning it. If you risked your life so some clown could burn a flag, aren’t you saying their beliefs are more important and more right than yours?

I think people confuse an indirect side effect vs a reason. People join the military for a number of personal reasons. An indirect side effect of military serving might enable random person to burn the flag. If you ask new recruits why they joining, no one will say “so people can burn the flag”. If you eat spicy Thai food, you don’t do it for the diarrhea. You do it because it tastes good. The diarrhea is a side effect that you’re willing to tolerate.

And frick all this excuse of “expressing views” for burning your own county’s flag. It’s just a lame way to be a piece of shite while wanting protection. If you google image search “flag burning”, you will never see people in other countries burn their flags. You will mostly see the American flag burning. It’s not because we’re the most free country in the world. It’s because we have the most spoiled brainwashed pieces of shite in the world. If you don’t like the US flag, find another flag. I’ll be happy to pay your air fare. Only condition is that you cant return to the US.

Yes

FWIW, I think your ilk should treat the American flag with the same reverence that y’all do for BLM, Antifa, and rainbow flags.

I also won't shed a tear if someone catches an arse beating from a civilian or three for attempting to burn it, there are consequences for certain actions and the BoR restricts the government, not the People.

Both. I signed up and fought for the “flag” which to me is the ideals America stands for. One of those ideals is the freedom to peacefully protest. For some that takes the form of burning the flag. That is their right.

I will physically stop it from happening in my presence, but I still see it as a right.

It's quite literally covered by the 1st amendment.

So you hold the flag in higher regard than the Constitution?

You need to do some basic research on what the Constitution does before engaging in this conversation

He came in with condescending tone wanting a debate on flag burning. He’s pretty much been owned by everyone who has debated him and hasn’t triggered anyone. It’s only going to get worse now that the morning crew is here. I’d say it is definitely not going the way he expected.

I believe in and fought forfreedom, I get annoyed how some people pick and chose where those freedoms apply and who it applies to.

With that being said, I joined because I was a terrible student, did not want to go to college and needed to escape my home life. Grew up ina non supportive, abusive at times household.

I am a huge fan of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

That being said if I saw someone trying to burn it we would have to see if they are willing to bleed for their cause. I saw several young men give their lives fighting under that flag.

My draft number was #76. I called my local draft board and they told me I’d be drafted as soon as I graduated and lost my 2S (student) deferment. I’d be reclassified as 1A. So I joined the army so I could choose my MOS instead of being an 11B in Viet Nam. Ended up getting commissioned and serving in Army Medical Dept. (AMEDD).

I joined for a girl who was home in Baton Rouge on leave. 9/11 happened and never heard from her again. I stayed because it was the best decision I ever made and my parents wanted me to stay the hell out of Baton Rouge.

I feel the same about those who disrespect our flag by burning as I do about those who uses it as a prop, article of clothing or to support their political agenda. F@#$ them.

Both. I defended your right to be stupid and do stupid things. Only wish my rights were as protected.
