Like I said above that category is total and permanently disabled. Not 100%. 100% has nothing to do with your working ability. This is a benefit these people agreed to when they signed up for this job. Many of these military positions beat the absolute shite out of your body. Its nothing in comparison to a civilian job.

Thank you for this perspective.

Everything you said can be true, and it can still be true that more people are on it now than ever before. It's like everything else with government. Incompetently run (ie: effectively screening fraudsters) and growing without regard.

There are those that have legit injuries and disabilities and deserve (and we owe) compensation.

There are also those that don't.

I think I still have your email from the Mexico rental. I’ll hit you up if we don’t see some traction soon.

Also, you losers subsidize my kick arse Tricare insurance for my whole family.
And all my family’s meds, free when we use online pharmacy.
Also, paid for my wife’s engineering degree.

I can go on if anyone’s interested.

I dislocated my shoulder while in the Army. Still gives me trouble at times but I can function normally. I guess it's a pride thing for me. There are many veterans that deserve the disability and there are those that game the system. Just like anything else in life.
Take the pain! Take the pain!

100% agree. Of all the hills to die on for the OT, yall pick this one. You have no idea what it takes and the toll on your body, just to make it out of boot camp in the 80's. I have jumped out of helicopters, was pushed off a high platform, was mentally tortured and busted both of my knees and my ankles, all while serving. So, should i just ignore those things? I lost most of my hearing from being in an artillery unit for years. Should i just ignore that?

Absolutely not. Sounds like you had legitimate injuries and are justly receiving compensation. I don't think anyone would argue against that.

But this is why we can't have reasonable conversations about it. If you question it, people trot out Lt. Dan and ask you why you don't support HIM getting disability. Of course we do. Everyone does.

Doesn't explain why it's ballooned so drastically lately (in participants and dollars), in relative peacetime. Is it really that much of a stretch that there's abuse of the system?

Don’t forget all those wars you cowards voted for but didn’t have the guts to fight.

Retired Army.
5 deployments
Two Bronze Stars w/ V device
Two Purple Hearts.
Get fricked civilians.
Nobody did it for you.
We do it for ourselves.

You’d think these people would have some integrity. Just shows you most people are leaches, no matter who they are, what they look like, or where they come from. Pathetic

Sorry you weren’t accepted into the military.

This simply isn’t true. His actual award is likely for something else - perhaps PTSD but alcohol use is not service connected anymore.

I know a guy that served in the Navy that is now an executive for a PE backed company. He makes a lot of money and still gets $1,200 a month from veterans disability because of partial hearing loss in one ear and a torn rotator cuff that he says was repaired successfully and he never feels pain.

How about mind your own fricking business? You don’t know their situation, you should just appreciate the freedom we provided you and not question the manner we did it. Typical civilian with no clue of the sacrifices military members go through.
