The citizens will just take it to the nuts as they always do. They’ll cry about it, but that’s all that will happen.

I believe the School board President and superintendent needs to step down. This would put a lot of the fire out which they let get out of control. Right now it just seems like the fire getting bigger and bigger. Part of their job is to try to keep stuff like this from getting blow out of proportion.
Do I agree VP politics needs improvement?
Yes.
Do I want to see the teachers go on strike?
No, this is not good for the community, business people, and kids.
If the board President and superintendent do not do a 360 degree change I see this coming. The only one it will really hurt is the kids.
Do I feel the school board President and superintendent are doing enough to resolve the issues?
No, it seems like they are pouring fuel on the fire making things worse for the community.
What is next having teachers from around the world have a protest in Abbeville?
If it comes to this both the superintendent and School Board President need to go to repair the damage they failed to fix.

my wife keeps to herself and doesn't usually take a huge stance on these type things but she is a teacher and has been outraged, wanted to go protest to show support, etc.
That's not her at all, so it has to be pretty bad and can only get worse if they don't do something.
Super has to go, now, they are reporting this across the world now.

NO. JUST frickING NO. Not "if it comes to this". The point at which they should go has already passed, and it was clearly way before the teacher got arrested.
See, this is why this shite is allowed to go on. People won't hold elected officials' feet to the fire and continually say "man, if they get a little worse, they gotta go". No, you crucify those fricks the instant they betray the public trust.
Quit having low expectations, people. These assholes should have been gone, if not prosecuted, long ago. The INSTANT they do anything shady or illegal, they have to go. frick waiting to see if they get worse or if they'll do it again or giving them a pass because they seem like good people. How about you put their asses in a sling the instant they do the FIRST thing wrong and hammer them as hard as the law will allow? Maybe if you send a message to these assholes that they'll pay for their bullshite you'll quit getting assholes in office. They're thieves and crooks, and they prey on the weak, not the vigilant. You make malfeasance in office risky enough, and the crooks will find an easier target. It's what crooks and thieves do.
Goddamn, the mindset of Louisianians infuriates me. This mealy-mouthed "ah shucks, give them a chance" shite is why we have the government we do. And you mark my words: nothing will happen to these people. NOTHING. A lot of noise will be made and these assholes will pull strings to make everything disappear. Oh, sure, one or two might resign or be forced out, but that'll be the worst that happens to them and the next crook will fill the seat before it has a chance to get cold because there's no real risk. Instead of responding by swinging the hammer harder and wider to hit the people pulling strings HARD until these cowards are too scared of the hammer to help their buddies, the people of Vermilion Parish will just shrug their shoulders and continue to let these assholes get away with it.
Don't feel like I'm picking on you, either, Vermilion Parish. You just happen to be the ones dealing with it right this second. I grew up in Acadiana and that mindset is PERVASIVE. There's a reason Edwin Edwards picked that part of Louisiana to use to solidify his power.

Also, I read somewhere about the SUPT equating what happened to teachers putting kids out of their class for conduct problems.
Fontana said that before the Sup did.

Here is the video of the SI crying. Fontana was absolutely smashed in that video as well. Not a good look on him yet again.

I don't know that SI has as much of an ego problem as Fontana.
I could see him stepping down, but Fontana will NEVER admit to doing anything. He tried to bully his way into everything up to this point, and the SI let it slide because it was benefiting him. Fontana can't allow the other side to win. Its his side vs the other side. Thats what its become. Not what is best for the schools or students. Which is what is sad.

yep, hes done....as president and as an attorney...the only future he has is chasing ambulances.

The SI let it slide because Fontana is the reason he is in the position he is in. You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours. That is how things work with those two. To see the slight divide between the two is hilarious in a sense. Those two are thick as thieves, like the video with Herpin's son and Fontana having to ask SI the name of the person he is appointing. That is just ridiculous!
Fontana will die on this hill. He will never admit to being wrong.
SI is just trying to save his job now. Hopefully people don't forget. The fact that he said "that's what you want to hear" in his interview speaks volumes to his true feelings.

There is a local component, but its so low it shouldn't even be considered.
School Revenue Data By Source
Louisiana ranks 25th in local funding as percentage of revenue at 41.3% compared to 34.3% in Mississippi and 33.7% in Alabama.
As a comparison, my state (Ohio) is at 47.7% and apparently the local district with the smallest raises over the last fewer years (Columbus City) will have given a 1.75% raise on average over the last 4 years.
Now maybe the districts’ expenditures are required to be allocated differently from those revenue sources, but given those percentages, and the fact that they could give the Superindent a 28% raise (not including a vehicle) makes it appear that districts have more power over salaries than you’re arguing.

Yep. That was more of a...I'm feeling the pressure of this. Its what you want me to say, so there I said it.
He needed to leave that part out of what he said. The lawyers can't factor in the emotion of the situation when they are trying to coach him up though. Hopefully for him Fontana is not giving him the legal advise for this

I agree.
It's odd how we as a society allow politicians to get away with anything, but will sit here and harp on police officers who made a split second decision for weeks/months or even longer and call for his/her head.
It's mind boggling.
I'm not saying anything to try and bring up cops or defend any particular incident, but it's weird how we as a society scrutinize the hell out of certain professions but let others go on mostly unchecked when they make poor decisions.

Puyau was crying and then seems pretty abrasive, “that’s what you want to hear okay”

I've heard that this is going to end up digging very much deeper than just the board. A lot of things may be exposed that extended to principals, down to athlethic programs. The entire VP school system may be very much exposed when this is all said and done.
