I know where Trump’s next rally should be.

I always wondered why does crazy/insanity case affect a murder charge? Unfit to stand trial?!? I don't give a shite if your crazy, you killed someone. You need to be punished to the highest degree

I get innocent until proven guilty, but it's all on video. Is that not proof enough? Just execute the guy and be done with it.

to restore his competency
This is the key. The judge did not find this tPoS kid was legally insane and not responsible. The judge is sending him to the loony bin to make sure he’s mentally competent before proceeding. Just a temporary pause in the case before the kid faces a jury. If the state gets a conviction you want it to hold up on appeal and not get tossed on a technicality.

Your average resident of Ketchum and Hailey are just a bit left of Chairman Mao.
Both towns are full of three types of people:
1. Rich progressives.
2. Poor "artist" progressives.
3. Hispanics who do all the manual labor the above two groups refuse to do.

He shouldn’t stand trial. He just stand in front of a hole he dug that someone else will fill in

We have a judge who is sending him to a psychiatric facility to “restore competency”, which gives weight to any argument that he is incompetent.

It does but likely good for the prosecution and reduces the weight of any appeals based on competency.

The judge's opinion of competency one way or another isn't admissible so the jury never hears it. Being in a mental detention facility gives the prosecution experts lots of time to develop their case. Short 2 hour examinations always come under defense scrutiny. It is also much harder to fake diminished capacity which would prevent active involvement in one's defense for 2 hours than 2 weeks or 2 months. This is especially true when you are being watched much of the time. Most everyone will drop the veil at some point.

You pussy twats sure are creative. This judge is a progressive, just like you. And progressives absolutely do look for reasons to be light on criminals. And unless something radically changed with this killer since his arrest—since we have the thing on video and know he wasn’t insane at the time—I can’t imagine there was truly a serious concern that a conviction would be overturned. Overturning convictions and proving insanity is very difficult…unless it’s a progressive judge.

Someone decided that to be convicted of committing a crime, one had to be aware that they are committing a crime, or at least be capable of understanding such. So naturally defense lawyers used it as a cop out, instead of doing what they are supposed to do and fight the allegations.

Competence to stand trial and sanity at the time of the offense are two, utterly unrelated, concepts.

Take an innocent life and then show no remorse while running your mouth about knowing the loopholes. Sounds like this piece of shite had plenty of sanity. Again he should dig a hole then have someone else fill it

He’ll likely spend more time in the Psychiatric Hospital than he would have spent in jail, so drugged up he can’t control his bodily functions. One can hope at least.
Correct.
And if he does get competent, then he'll stand trial.
As usual, people are melting irrationally for their emotional dopamine hit.

To me it sounds like they’re no dropping charges and just delaying the trial. The “out of abundance of caution” makes it seem like this is so the verdict isn’t thrown out or ruled as a mistrial in an appeal in case he claims he was insane or something.
Correct.
Again, that doesn't fill the emotional needs for some posters.
