Anyone work for Valero? Can you tell me about the employment, benefits, etc. Have a couple interviews coming up and if I get the position, wanted to see what to expect.

You scan the items. You tell the customer how much they are. They pay. You give them change if necessary. They leave. Rinse and repeat.

Self or full service? Cleaning windshields requires a certain skill.

Pick a location where you won’t get your head blown off.

I’m sure they are in line with most other plants in the area, otherwise they would never keep operators around.

For operations Valero is one of, if not the best benefits/pay wise

I've seen their operations pay is best around.

Not sure about Engineering and other professional roles.

While concise, your summation is too generic and part of the reason for the interview in the 1st place.

Allow me to assist:

They leave
is referring to the customer, not the employee.

Once the Op understands this he's all set for that soon to be $15/hr.

When I ask for 5 Powerball quick picks, put them all on the same damn ticket. Don’t hand me back 5 different slips!

Oil and Gas is a great career path right now.

Then again, I don't know if selling Snickers and Powerade in a gas station really counts as O&G.

Ops top out around $50/hr. Health ins paid, bonuses up to 12%, 401k match up to 12% determined by years of service.

Seriously? I’m a mechanical engineer and would take that with OT potential. $100k+ a year with a 12k match, 25 years in and you should be able to clear $1MM easy for retirement.
