If you want to proselytize, do it where people can walk away or debate you in a public forum...don't do it where people are there to watch their loved one graduate.

Also, "God" didn't get you that 4.0...was he whispering the answers in your ear or some shite?

The Valedictorian speech isn't about you. It is about the class as a whole.

Why did Jesus only give that one kid get a 4.0 and not everyone? That's pretty messed up. Kind of like how God chooses one football team over the other one.

The valedictorian speeches at my children's HS graduation included a biblical passage.

It was not the one cited several times in the movie "Pulp Fiction"

Sam Blackledge, 18, told Fox News this week that he “wanted to cry” after he was forced to edit his graduation address moments before its delivery. The all-star student said he was ordered to deliver generic comments devoid of the true inspiration for his academic performance.

Here he was being persecuted and he decided to back down instead of stand up for what he believed in.

Why only seek legal action? He would have had a slam dunk case if he would have been punished for delivering the unedited speech.

Ive heard plenty of public school speeches that thank God. Wonder why this one got singled out?

Good, no one wants to hear his sermon anyway.

"Blah, blah, blah...and this is the part where I can't thank my lord and savior, Jesus Christ, whom I cannot hereby affirmatively say is the inspiration for all the good in this world and my life...
blah, blah, blah...and may I conclude here with this: the school has suppressed my religious views and free speech rights, and that is a bigger lesson in this past hour or so than all the other knowledge I've gained from the institute's instruction in the past four years. F*** you, *insert high school name*."

Yes, it is a public school, but the speech isn't being given on behalf of the school. It is the personal speech of the valedictorian. Should the school be allowed to tell students not mention God in any of their essays? Can the school tell kids not to wear crosses or clothing that expresses a religious view?

As an atheist and a Libertarian I approve this message.

The students should be able to say whatever the frick they want it's those employed by public institutions that can't and shouldn't endorse any particular religion.

Because this didn't actually happen. Or at least not the way he's portraying it.

I would deliver my speech anyway and not care what they said. Know your rights. You’re done with school at that point anyway.
