The counter argument is not about pedophilia … it’s about whether owning a sex doll is beneficial to prevent sex crime (or whether it promotes it) Im not advocating handing out dolls like needles. It I guess the analogy is whether owning a syringe by itself should be illegal

The argument is about child like sex dolls; which in turn is pedophilia. Again, syringes are universally accepted for good. Sex dolls or child-like sex dolls, not so much.

A doll is not pedophilia. That is not true. A doll may signal that its owner is a pedophile (maybe)...but there is nothing that can be done with a plastic doll, regardless of how old it may or may not look, that is pedophilia.

This whole thing started with the question of whether it is proper to make possession of an inanimate doll illegal. The concept just seems troubling.

Obviously a disturbed person.

That may be true. However, if he isn’t acting out his fantasy on real flesh and hasn’t downloaded child porn, then what exactly did he do that should be considered a crime? If anything he should be given treatment, not jail.

Down vote away, but a criminal charge requires harm.

As sick as this person is what crime has he committed?

The laws says something about appearing to be a child, that alone leaves it up to interpretation for an inanimate object.

I think this guy should be evaluated and maybe put on a watch list.

Even though this is a gross object, what is to prevent this law from expanding to other objects that may cause someone to do something wrong?

Do if I put my pecker in a cabbage patch doll. I could be arrested for Pedophilic behavior. I plead the fifth on first statement

I don't think you understand what the word 'threat' means.
Of course, he's a GD threat. What do you think he graduates to?

There was a similar story to this a year or so ago. I find it interesting.

Some on here hate red flag laws, but are also in favor of flagging a guy for possessing a doll.

The word pedophile is about as washed as the word racist. Its definition is lost on society. Someone did clear it up on page 3 again. If you want to speak in legal terms and label someone a pedophile, it’s best to know what it means.

At its core…I’m torn. Does he have a past history of sexual abuse with underage? This guy’s home was searched because cops found a doll that appeared to be pre-pubescent? It’s a doll…are law enforcement agencies now defining what constitutes an underage sex doll? At some level, isn’t that a matter of opinion. I’ve seen 15 year olds that look 24 and some women that are getting ID’d into their 30’s.

I’m not at all defending this dude, as it is very pervy and sus, but this is a slippery slope from a legal standpoint. If you are a 2A advocate, I’m not sure you want to green light law enforcement agencies being able to essentially arrest based on predictive behavior.

I'd rather some sick frick get his rocks off on plastic then a real person.

So you'd rather them frick the doll first and then frick a real child?

That's the obvious progression which is why it's illegal to own child sex dolls.

So you have to wait until the silicone is 18 years old? It's gonna be all dry and stiff by then...

Pedophilia is more like a terrorist owning bomb making supplies. A threat watch list is great, but you aren’t watching them 24/7. Just look at how many acts of Muslim terrorism occur by someone on a “watch list”

I don’t know where the line should be drawn, but waiting until they act on an human isn’t in the greater good of society either?

Is this full blown "Minority Report"? The guy "may" do something wrong? You want to talk about a slippery slope.
