About to make this louisiana refinery unionized too. No need to get another job, we about to be taken care of, waiting for the cards to circulated.
It's not the bowl of cherries you think it is. Might be better than you have right now though.

I agree. There is good and bad on both sides of the fence.

I dont work for Marathon but you sound all sorts of bitter and i would say misinformed
Why would someone be requires to work 14 days straight, against a fatigue policy, to recieve a bonus structure
You should find another employer

Where i work, salaried employees on TA are required to take fatigue days as well. And they arent compensated monetarily by any means for working every day during a TA event
What about "extended pay" for salaried employees where you work? It's pretty attractive these days for a FLS to work 4-10's most of the year then make that extended pay on the TA.

No two policies are the same

That is easier said than done for most people. It is especially easy to suggest when it applies to someone else.

Not misinformed, spreading the facts! Our fatigue policy only affects hourly employees and not salary. Because that would affect there bonus. I'm not for the fatique policy, but if we have to follow it makes it the same across the board, that's taking money from our pockets and back in te salary pockets. That's a FACT!!

Has anyone heard if any of the ExxonMobil refineries will strike?
Posted on 2/2/15 at 9:43 pm to LSUEnvy
Not yet that I know of. I have talked to employees of "support" plants and they were told to have their bags packed and ready yesterday.

The fatigue policy that I know of does not apply to salary.
It is also only enforced on turnarounds and not regular time. Even if the overtime is created due to a turnaround.

Ours applies plant wide. API 755 is what it is called.

Thanks for the info. My buddy is scheduled to start working in ops at the Baytown site in early March and he's shifting bricks.

Yeah, that is the nationwide standard. Who enforces your plan? Is there an independent third party or fine that is paid to a government agency?

It's our own version of API 755. They tried to tell us that it was law. But some of us called them on it. API is more of a suggestion than a standard. Then they told us it was the company's version of it therefore it was policy. It is enforced in house.

Yeah, all of them I have heard of are enforced by the company. Therefore it is really just a procedure until it is redlined.

I lose respect for someone if I ever hear someone use the union as an excuse for not doing something.

That is one of the blights on organizing. Easy to remember the bad things.
