I was talking to some of my neighbors about I haven’t seen Mail at all this week, turns out neither have they
you must live in one of those 1% neighborhoods... because 99% of the people know if you park in front of the mailbox they will not deliver you damn mail.

I don’t blame the mail lady for not wanting to get out of the truck in that hood and take a chance of getting robbed or shot

One of one worst things about Texas. All the trashy neighborhood street parking. Glad we found a neighborhood where people don’t do that.

I live out in the country, have long driveway and plenty of parking between house and my shop and in front of it.
Grandkids come over and park right in front of the entrance to garage. So I can’t get in or out of my garage.
I raise hell, guess that’s why they call me Grumps.

I’m going to tell the pilot next time that you have to deliver all these other little assholes to the airport but you need to land at my house as let me off.

Going back to the 70s thread, this is another thing that has changed. Back in the day, unless you lived in a very rural area most people had their mailboxes right next to their front door. Mailmen parked at the end of the street and actually walked their routes. I haven’t seen anything like that in quite some time.

They still do that all the time. Just depends on the neighborhood.

Rare occurrence, but I agree with USPS. Imagine if every house on their route did this. It’s not their fault you don’t have enough room in your garage/driveway for the cars in your family

This still occurs all over the US, only in places where it is efficient. In rural areas, it isn't very efficient.

Tell your dumbass kids that it's illegal to obstruct postboxes.
Don't blame the postal worker for your kids' mistake. You should feel lucky that she didn't levy a fine against the vehicle owner obstructing the post box.

News at 5: Government workers do the bare minimum or less and with no repurcussions...deeper dive at 10

My mail lady walks our neighborhood.
Garden District in Baton Rouge. No mailbox on the street, all are on the houses.

Have observed this behavior over many years. Let’s just say, results may vary, but the decline in effort tracks the general decline in society.

I just had to educate the carrier that the big box at the bottom of my commercial address, was for packages. The key that sticks out of the front of it, can only be released by the key he carries. When the key is released, he puts it in my mailbox then I use it to open the package door. Wash, rinse, repeat.
That was a year ago........they still haven't used it. Mail comes around lunch. We close from 12-1 and the door is locked. I've had to go the post office quite a few times. I swear they go to bottom of IQ list in their new hire candidates first, when they consider new hires.

Might be my favorite part.
She probably tried to deliver your mail the next day, and the day after. Then seeing that y'all still wouldn't stop obstructing the mailbox said "Fine. Pick up your own goddamn mail. I tried."

You could just not be an idiot and search for yourself as to whether or not USPS workers are obligated to get out and put your mail in the mailbox if its blocked by a car, etc.
They are not. I thought this was common sense? You don't block the mailbox. I wouldn't want teenagers parking near the mailbox because they might accidently hit it. So.. tell people don't park in front of it or go to the post office and get your mail.
