USPS -- packaging moving along until it doesn't

3 days to arrive from California to Louisiana. Efficient.
Last 3 days, sitting in Baton Rouge.
Is this a Baton Rouge post office inefficiency issue or somehow the package is lost inside a Baton Rouge facility?

You'll be fine. It's our super efficient mail system that doesn't need an overhaul.
I had a gun sit at the local distribution center for 9 days before it moved. All of the holiday shopping has them backed up.

It's really bad currently.

I’m glad that I live around people who know each other. I suspect that all of the carriers have had to hire additional delivery drivers because of the holiday volume. Our packages are winding up all over the place in my little community. We’re having to make final delivery to each other.

I had the same thing happen in fort worth. Package got there then stopped for a week. I submitted a service ticket and it moved to delivery the next day and a lady emailed me back with:
"Your package is still in transit and is running late due to holiday volume. We do have a few post masters that drove up to the Fort Worth facility today to try and help get the packages moving so hopefully we will see your package soon."
It's not like Christmas doesn't happen every frickin year. Staff up in high volume areas like every frickin company does. Idiots.

It’s probably in postal purgatory which means good luck. It could easily not be in BR even though it says that..

I have one that took a week to leave Georgia on its way to New Orleans. In one day turned around and had found its way back to Georgia and bounced around. Hopefully better luck on its next facility scan

It happens all the time. 3 days to cross the country, and 6 days languishing in Baton Rouge.
It amazes me, and it happens all the time now. A few years ago, it wasn't this way. I think In the past 4 years, they have hired a shitty supervisor who is in charge somewhere in the chain in Baton Rouge, and this is the result.

Can you give me the tracking number? Career USPS employee here. I can tell you that sometimes the info the customer sees is different from what internal USPS tracking shows (manifest data vs actual live scan). You can text tracking number to me if you don’t want to post it. I’m still at my office.

I have several packages on the way to me that are in similar limbo. Seems like they move pretty well and then once they get to Baton Rouge it takes 3-4 more days before they finally get to me in Prairieville.

Just sent you a text. You can delete your phone number, if you'd like.

This leads back to my post about mail order pharmacies
It’s really great until your important meds are lost somewhere just cycling around the country at USPS sites

I can send mail to California, Miami, and even Hawaii in 3 days normally (non holiday season). I mailed something from West Monroe, going to Hammond, it took a week. It went to Shreveport (all mail from WM goes here first), then to NOLA, then Laffy, to BR, back to NOLA and finally delivered. Only missed Lake Chuck to hit all 4 corners.

I use Mark Cuban's company for some medications reorders. They typically take about a week to get to me. The good thing about this company is that they send out reminders with plenty of advance notification times. If I fail to do the reminder, that is on me. Cuban's company, at least for me, ships via USPS.
I've also used Amazon Pharmacy, and they ship overnight. Never had an issue. Amazon, I believe uses FedEx for their pharmacy deliveries.

I had a laptop that sat in one spot for a week, via FedEX, and no one would do shite for another week or two. They won't admit it is lost until it isn't scanned for 2 or 4 weeks and then they will begin the refund/replacement process. I am dealing with Ebay/Paypal now on a knife I ordered through Ebay 5 weeks ago and the guy sent the wrong knife. I tried messaging the business 5 times in two weeks and they wouldn't respond. I went through eBay and they threw it out in about 5 minutes saying the tracking said it was delivered. I opened it back up and after a week I went to PayPal to open it up with them and it has been in limbo the last two weeks claiming they are giving the business time to respond.
It has certainly turned into a turd of a situation. Sadly, the knife the guy sent is more expensive than the one I ordered but bigger than I want to carry everyday.

FedEx is just as bad.
My U-bolts for my Jeep shipped from Dyersburg TN and arrived in Memphis on Monday. Was supposed to be delivered on Wednesday and is still sitting at Fedex facility with no updates on estimated delivery time.
My office is literally next door to global corporate headquarters in Memphis and I still can't get shite in reasonable amount of time.
