I am not an economics expert.
But my personal experience it people are not starving or miserable.
I understand my location and field of employment is not everyone's.
But I think much of the "misery" is purposely magnified by media.

Yep, they’re moving to conservative strongholds like Austin.
No one from California is moving to rural Texas which is where you’ll find the majority of conservatives in Texas. While I would agree that a lot of the ones moving here lean conservative, they are not moving to conservative areas.

The policies that govern the businesses in the state are much more conservative and business friendly. To act like there is rural Texas and 6th street is disingenuous and another shitty argument on your part. The people living north of Dallas, north of Houston, in Fort Worth, and many suburbs throughout the street are mostly conservative or right leaning moderates.
Your style of only talking about the extremes of LP and Austin shows you’re either arguing just to argue, or you’re clueless.

It is extremely liberal in urban centers and gets more conservative the further out you get. I’ve lived in Dallas and Austin and I’ve worked in both cities as well as the suburbs out to rural towns outside of Dallas.
People moving in from out of state, especially California, are moving mostly into the cities and home prices reflect it. These people are cutting their housing costs in half and getting twice the house. M streets and the surrounding area of Dallas as well as Tarrytown and other areas close to downtown Austin are full of them, especially the tear down rebuild jobs.
Austin has absolutely blown up the last 10+ years and it’s because of transplants moving to Austin, not pflugerville.

Almost every city in the country over 150k is left leaning.
