I'm not overreacting when I say I truly hate that entire team. Not dislike, not anger, I do hate them. F*ck every single one of them. If they hate the country so much then resign from the USWNT.
I really wish the US Soccer Federation actually had some balls and flat out said "we are not repealing the policy and we will enforce it. if you don't like it you are more than welcome to submit your letter of resignation". Either that or completely disband the USWNT.
I've never like the USWNT. I was happy when Japan beat the US in the 2010 Women's World Cup after what Japan had gone through. I did not cheer for them in 2014 or 2018 and I sure as hell am not going to cheer for them in any future tournament. Anybody but the USWNT will be my motto.
I really wish the US Soccer Federation actually had some balls and flat out said "we are not repealing the policy and we will enforce it. if you don't like it you are more than welcome to submit your letter of resignation". Either that or completely disband the USWNT.

That's all this is. When their lawsuit against US Soccer was predictably thrown out, and they faded from the national consciousness, they were bound to throw some other shite out there to see if it would stick. The current political climate was a perfect opportunity for them to exploit.

Here's the dealio. When you are on a roster that calls itself Team USA, you are an ambassador and a representative for the United States of America. You do not kneel during the national anthem. While in uniform, you stand respectfully at attention or with your hand over your heart while it is played. Because you are there representing the entire country. It's the same thing with the military. I am a military serviceman and if I were to kneel during the national anthem while in uniform, I would be court martialed right out of the service - and rightfully so.
That having been said...I am a First Amendment absolutist and, while I support people who kneel for the national anthem on their own time, I think the actual act itself is freaking stupid. The whole idea of kneeling before something is an act of reverence/worship. You kneel in church because you are worshiping God and you kneel before a monarch because you are showing him/her homage. Since when did kneeling become an act of defiance? It has always been an act of submission.

Just split it. Have a Liberal States of America team and a Conservative States of America team.

Here is my thing, its clearly about the flag to the protesters. Clearly. I have no idea how we have gotten to the point we accept the explanation "it isnt about the flag!!!"
