U.S. seizes $800k worth of Chinese product made with human hair

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers detained a shipment of almost 13 tons of wigs and other human hair products suspected of being made through forced labor in Xinjiang, China, U.S. government officials tell Axios.
Why it matters: Importing products made with forced labor into the U.S. is illegal. But it's extremely difficult to trace U.S. supply chains back to factories in Xinjiang that use forced labor, making this a rare event.
What's happening: On June 17, CBP issued a withhold release order for Lop County Meixin Hair Product Co. Ltd. in southern Xinjiang requiring U.S. ports of entry to detain any shipments from that company to the U.S.
quote:
CBP officials at the Port of New York/Newark subsequently detained the shipment of Meixin Hair Product goods, which included wigs and other human hair products.
A withhold release order indicates CBP has uncovered strong evidence linking those products to forced labor.
Once their goods are seized, the importing company is given the opportunity to provide proof that the products are not made with forced labor.
quote:
“If this highly suspicious, 13-ton shipment of human hair indeed turns out to be linked to the Uighur concentration camps, then this is a new low — even for the Chinese Communist Party — and they will have to answer to the world community for their actions,” National Security Council spokesperson John Ullyot tells Axios.
quote:
Background: The Chinese government has instituted forced labor on a mass scale as part of its campaign to subjugate and forcibly assimilate Uighurs and other Muslim ethnic minorities.
quote:
More than a million Uighurs have been detained in a string of concentration camps in Xinjiang.
Some former detainees are sent to work in factories, where they are under tight surveillance and may be forced to attend indoctrination sessions.
Numerous female survivors have said women's heads were shaved when they were admitted to the camps.

After all this Corona shite, I’m hoping that the world stops doing so much fricking business with them

Anyone who claims to stand for human rights but refuses to condemn China is a hypocrite and piece of shite. If you’re going to take a stand, don’t let money get in the way of your morals. The Chinese government is despicable.

Funny people are literally kneeling in shame over slavery from 150 years ago while we actively trade with and consume products from a country that’s has committed countless Human atrocities without blinking.

Just gonna drop in here and say that Trump knew about the concentration camps and did nothing about it to protect a trade deal. But everyone on TD loves POTUS. Bunch of hypocrites are gonna down vote me and cuss me out for this.

Do you honestly think Trump just does whatever he wants without anyone else having any influence on the action? You have a child's view of international relations and trade deals.
Trump (HIS TRADE ADVISORS) have been more strict on China than any team has been in decades. But since you just started following politics in 2016 you have no baseline for what normal is. The tariffs are crushing China and everything they're doing with the Uighurs is against international law. Do you want him to start a hot war or what? This shite is far more complex than any CNN news article can describe.
There are business interests, allied interests (look at the European reliance on China), and other interests.
None of this is even close to as simple as Trump wanting to do something and everyone unquestionably just going along with it. Thats how dictatorships work, this isn't China. He has advisors and consultants from multiple angles to give in input. No decision is going to be 100% clean.

I wonder what the BLM organization thinks about this. My guess is that don’t give 3 shits. They just want to destroy the US.
