Agreed. But innocent people in the middle east didn't crash the planes. How would you like it if some military killed your family because a terrorist group from the US attacked them?

We were incredibly stupid saying "yes! Take our freedoms away so that scary brown bogeymen won't get us! Use trillions of dollars to poorly execute counterterrorism! Employ Barely functional hominids in the TSA to fondle women and steal Things! Yes, take our freedoms!"

I'm guessing you don't remember seeing the throngs of Muslims celebrating in the streets in the Middle East following the 9/11 attacks.

Yep. Most don't know or don't remember that they were literally dancing in the streets after 911. At that point, they aren't civilians IMO. They are supporters of terrorism and should have been dealt with accordingly.

Which of your specific freedoms have been taken away, and how have you been adversely affected, if at all, by the taking away of these freedoms?

So you're suggesting that we should have leveled Saudi Arabia?

Not a smart arse question, totally serious. I get the "what" part, but what's your answer to the "who" part?

I think if we we were going to react, it should have been in such an overwhelming manner that the entire world stood back in horror and awe at the level of destruction, death, and complete desolation the US leaves behind against any foe stupid enough to attack us

As "RIGHT" as this may sound...It would Have caused enough problems world wide that it would have ended up hurting this country in the long run......

I feel like we had most of the world on our side, and we screwed that up.

15/19 hijackers were Saudis. Zero Iraquis or Afghans. Did we do anything to the Saudis? Who do you think helps fund ISIS?

Hmmmm, deep thoughts.

No one is saying they didn't have supporters. The thread is about whether our reaction was appropriate. The fact is hundreds of thousands of innocent lives were lost as a result of the war on terror and for what? Did we stop militant Islamic groups? Did anyone have any doubt that we have the most powerful military in the world? I supported the war in Afghanistan at the time but it's clear now that our enemy couldn't be defeated with traditional means. You mean to tell me you honestly think MORE bombing would have been a better solution? Sure, we could have wiped the middle east off the face of the planet and they would no longer be a threat but I hope that you would have the conscience to know that would be a despicable and disproportionate act
