I'm sure there might be some cancellations and flight delays for some of you, but at least you know you will be flying safe aircraft

I cant imagine how many times this has happened in the US where a US pilot might be afraid to say something

Not likely. Pilots in the US will write anything up. Especially in the case of an aircraft type being examined under the microscope
That is why the confidential reporting system exists.
LINK
There are reports from 737 Max pilots reporting control issues.

Can they not just not use autopilot till they have this fixed, or does it occur separate from that as well?

very misleading for you to post a pic of one of the few younger ones

The DC10 was pretty much killed by bad maintenance on one aircraft that resulted in a video clip of epic fail.
If the airline’s mechanics don’t try and take off the engine with a forklift that dies halfway through the procedure and cracks the wing, we probably don’t even discuss the aircraft anymore.

A few weeks ago Southwest had a slightly higher than normal number of planes out on maintenance work, and it was causing all sorts of scheduling problems.
I thought those crews were goldbricking it while threatening to go on strike.

Martini, I highly doubt you would have the wherewithal nor the balls to say that to my face.

You don’t actually believe that, so you? That airlines just have tons of spare airplanes sitting around and ready to fly at the onset of a crisis such as this? Especially with regards to SWA who is having labor problems with their mechanics and have fewer aircraft than normal available.
Pretty sure some of the airlines are allowing customers to switch flights if they don't want to be on one.

Boeing knew and included instruction for pilots to troubleshoot the problem while in the air. How stupid is this??? Glad to see the groundings, esp the Air Canada because we are flying Air Canada to Europe in April. I won’t fly on that plane unless it’s fixed.
Posted on 3/13/19 at 6:51 pm to Reda LSU
Canada too. So far 40 countries have grounded that plane. Good thing.

I doubt there were very many 737max trans-Atlantic flights. You are probably on a 777 anyway.

I'm flying AA to Vegas in May. I may not if it's a 737 Max 8

Trump ordered them grounded this afternoon.

Ha ! As an old pilot, I laugh when I see stuff like this. The modern day airline pilot is just daamned spoiled. Get to 300 feet on takeoff; engage auto pilot. Get to 300 feet before touchdown; disengage auto pilot.
The nose pitches down when the autopilot is engaged. Well, turn the mutha off ! Or wait till you are at cruising altitude.
The title is pilot ......... fly the f’n airplane !

Every time I fly on an old mad dog I think to myself, this baby is older than my wife but at least the guys up front know what the f*ck they're doing.
