LMAO the older generation outworks the f*ck out of the younger one. The way I see it, we are the ones taking care of them.

Americans currently work more hours than any other people in the industrialized world.

Old folks ruined this country. So many Americans are working 50 to 60 hours weeks just to make ends meet now.

No doubt. Lots of young people living shallow, nihilistic existences going to happy hours, fricking around, catching ubers, grabbing brunch, and playing xbox into their 30s.

It was, for all intents and purposes, a tax you paid to finance current retirees. It wasn't put away for your own retirement.

Such a shame to know there are young professionals out there actually enjoying their lives instead of coming home every day at the same time, slamming the door, and letting that bitch wife and all those bastard kids know how goddamned good they have it before plopping down in front of the TV. If the Good Lord wanted us to be happy, he wouldn't have expelled us from the Garden of Eden.

Yeah except the problem is the people who can afford kids are not having them while the illegals and dependents are exploding from the womb.

LOL.. Look at the real employment rate now, it's not about productivity or able workers, it's about people willing to work. Why would people work when "rights" such as food and cell phones are guaranteed..when the democracy votes itself power it inherently fails

That is incorrect. It was put in specifically for my retirement. Read the history. My SS number was developed to identify my personal account just like the numbers I use to identify banking, checking and other accounts. I personally saw the ledger specifically kept under my name and number. It is my account and what I put in determined how much I receive per month.

Facts are your lawmakers did not invest it for us as they were supposed to. Instead they saw a pool of money and squandered it away effectively stealing my account. In order to have enough in the account to pay us what we are due they have to vote to fund it. Guess where the money to fund it comes from? If you said it comes from the money they are stealing from your account you are correct.

And so "It was, for all intents and purposes, a tax you paid to finance current retirees" is not entirely correct. It's just a way the younger people that are still working are led to believe. It WAS put away for my retirement as noted by SS numbers and the account entries on what I personally put in and with drew.

BTW, I had paid in enough to draw the maximum looong before I started drawing from my account. Based on using the minimum amount of return over the years I will have to live to about 100 to get back what I paid in.

More info:
quote:

According to the Social Security Administration, the "Old Age, Survivors and Disability Trust Fund" reserves at the end of 2014 stood in the region of $2.8 trillion. However, this is not cash locked up in a bank account somewhere. This is held in "Special Issue Bonds", in other words, Government IOUs. The Federal Government has taken ALL of it. It owes the retiring population of the USA considerably more than we owe to China. That is a big part of the deficit conservatives are so anxious to reduce. Note that their preferred method of deficit reduction is not by paying it back. It's by altering the law so that they don't have to. That's the real meaning of "entitlement reform".

Now you know. You are just paying back the "Special Issue Bonds" That was bought with my money, essentially my investment.

There is also that illegal alien factor that works under the radar. They take away jobs that should be paying taxes and SS. This removes people from the work force that would be paying taxes while adding people to the list that use tax supplied services.

We need the welfare recipients to stop having so many fricking kids. Doesn't matter what the birthrate is as long as those wastes of flesh are popping out little government checks every 9 months.

Ya think? The system can't support the expanding welfare recipients, without fricking us. I'm not sure what the breaking point is for us, as tax payers, but I can see 40% in our near future.

This basic problem is strangling Europe's economies.

What? Their problem was no baby boomer generation. There was a huge gap in age in the workforce. Too many people leaving, not enough people in between.

I get that is tied to birth rates, but it was because all of Europe was at war.

We really can't say, look at europe, and compare anything over there to here for that simple fact. Even healthcare.

This is a big problem in Germany. The only ones having babies are the non producers on welfare. So yeah idiocracy is happening all over.

SS would be fine if our politicians didn't steal all the money years ago and turned it into a Ponzi scheme.

It was always a Ponzi scheme predicated on an increasing population paying for the previous and a retirement age that was right around the average life span. That's why a stagnant or declining birth rate coupled with people living longer spells problems going forward.

Well when you have able body people collecting upwards of 4000$ per month from the government including , health care , housing , food , and even child care while contributing nothing to the system and also receiving an income tax return in which they have no income except for the handouts they receive , well that's a big part of the problem ....

Also illegals not paying any taxes is killing this country .....
