I see a lot of people understanding just how fricked this country is and how much worse it is going to get and refuse to bring children into a world that will be stacked against them.

It's trends like this that I'm in favor of expanded maternity leave. Whether that be through government or employer competition.
This country needs people who actually work to have more kids.

I would if I werent fairly certain the people who contribute negatively to society are probably having births at the same rate while the people who contribute positively to society are the ones with lower birth rates. This makes sense if you consider the proposed reason for lower birth rates. People who work hard and budget feel like they cant afford kids because of people who do nothing having kids and taking their $ through social programs.

This is why the Ponzi schemes are illegal for everyone else, the government is sooooo dumb.

Few, if any, people I know under the age of 40 realistically believe social security will be a viable source of income when they retire.

I for one don't expect a penny from social security.
I'd rather just have my own money to invest for my own retirement but.....

Do you ever read your yearly social security statement? It says directly on the paper NOT TO RELY ON IT for retirement. Even those in charge of that shite show know how fragile it is, and anyone who goes out in public and sees who is carrying kids around knows it is only going to get worse.

This has always confused me. How do you live off the government with zero income, but are cashing $7k refund checks? I contribute more in 1 paycheck to the government than these fricks ever have and what do I get? To cut another check to Uncle Sam in April.

Social Security will not be around forever.

Yes, how dare we not have kids because we just don't want them. Looking at this world right now, the previous generation's decisions leave it very unattractive to have any. Too busy working for less, and paying for more.

No need to worry. A world war will solve this and one is being planned right now, just hang in there.

I agree, but birth rates are going to drop when college degreed individuals can't find jobs, or when it takes mom and dad making 80k each a year in order to help put their two kids through college with student loans.
