It’s really more around the litigation in both states around bodily injury suits. It’s out of control and there’s no end in sight.

Maybe the state could actually enforce the law. If a car is pulled over and does not have insurance, immediately impound it.

Obviously, state police would have to enforce this in NOLA

This isn’t difficult

Uninsured motorists are a small part of the problem

I think the race baiters got any real enforcement actions shut down 15 plus years ago. It was mean to enforce laws that required people to have insurance

Same here (State Farm). I called my agent, which is a good friend and have been with him for years, and asked what was going on. Aside from the Plaintiff Atty stuff that has been going on for years, he said the cost to fix cars has gone up substantially. He also mentioned the time to fix cars (see the Brian Harris BMW backlog thread) has increased substantially so if you get in a wreck and they have to provide a "free" rental, the rental costs to them have increased.
The cost to repair cars has gone up substantially and there are definitely supply chain issues as well.

The OP's point doesn't have much to do with those issues.

It costs close (if not the same) to fix a vehicle in Texas or in Louisiana or in Mississippi.

The reason Auto Insurance is so expensive in Louisiana is driven by out-of-control liability issues and the plethora of Uninsured/Underinsured Motorists.

Go to NOLA and you will see Nissan Altimas everywhere, none of which have license plates or insurance

The problem is people think they are entitled to injury compensation for every little fender bender that they are in. The amount of BI claims for accidents deemed "minimal impact collisions" are ridiculous. It doesn't help when every billboard and tv ad/sponorship is a PI attorney advising "in a wreck? get a check!" No matter how "minor" the wreck is.

car subscription

Is this pretty much the same as leasing a vehicle?

Great, now drive down any road in LA or FL and count how many injury attorneys there are. Try to watch a saints or LSU game without seeing an ad for one.

I’m an agent and I’m telling you litigation for bodily injury is the issue.

Bingo!

I’ve got a claim where a female driver in her 20s will end up getting 160k for a broken arm.

The NOLA triple play is an Altima with no license plate and a doughnut spare tire on one of the wheels.

Wish people would turn against these guys, LSU should take a stand. Plaintiff attorneys should not be advertising, they are costing you more money.

so we are the only one that have injury lawyers?

the legal environment in LA and FL lends itself to litigation nightmares but continue to bury your head in the sand as if that isn’t the issue.

What laws does Ohio have that make its insurance the lowest in the country? Lets copy those laws in LA and enforce them. I know Ohio's drivers are not any worse that LA.

Nothing to do with this...
Judicial Hellholes

We like to sue doctors, as well.

30% of our legislators are lawyers. LSU and Southern Law run the state, and they have made it their playground.

Look at all the idiots on the road driving.

Remember, 49.9% of drivers are below average drivers and there isn’t a single one of them who thinks they are below average.

Frequency and severity of accidents are up. We are all swimming in the same pool so instead of blaming insurance companies, look at the idiot drivers.

See if ChatGPT can redo that map and eliminate all Nissan Altima and Dodge Charger/Challenger Policies.

I doubt Mississippi and Alabama drivers are much different

Yet their premiums are 25-50% less

I think they're very different drivers than we are. Shoot, North LA and South LA drive completely different. It just seems like people in MS and AL drive like they're on a scenic drive. People in LA drive like they have to turn a 30 minute drive into a 5 minute drive or else they'll be killed. Just seems like more of a disregard for human life down here than in those other states.
