Upvote/Downvote System

How did you all feel about it when it was first implemented?
I'll be the first to admit that I was skeptical at first. I even cringed a bit every time I saw the green and red colors at the end of every post. I questioned Chicken's decision making at that very moment.
However....now, in my humble opinion, it has become a staple of the great Tigerdroppings community. It is a strong indicator of merit. Those who are ostracized, such as Rebloke, get automatically downvoted because of their terrible posting history. He could make a post about his mother dying of some horrible disease, and he would get downvoted at about 80%. I would guess only 20% actually read his post. On the other hand, some posters are more likely to receive upvotes just based on popularity alone.
Sometimes I won't even read a post unless I see some sort of trend in upvoting or downvoting. What kind of shallow creature have I become?
Call me crazy, but I think the upvote/downvote system is the single greatest invention in Tigerdroppings history.

It lets the site's owners demonstrate more clicks to advertisers.
That's the only reason it's here.

I am 100% positive that in 3-5 years Chicken will release a list showing how often each poster upvoted their own post. My money is that Rex is at the top. Even if he stays banned.

I kind of wish there was a way to see how many upvotes/down votes each poster has.

That is a fair theory....I hope it comes true. I personally like to downvote my posts.

I wish we could see the statistics on our up/down votes.

Same here...Chicken could release weekly, monthly, and all-time standings. The leaders in both categories could be eligible for prizes.
Lots of great possibilities.

Thanks...I kinda figured I would be swarmed with downvotes in this thread. The OT, if anything, is very predictable.

I've never used iit nor do I even look at it. dumber than emoticons...but not quite as girly.

It should be made possible to see who upvoted or downvoted any particular post.

I don't understand what it does as the most up voted comments don't rise to the top like other sites.
As far as who gives a shite as to whether or not a post is up or down voted I don't have a clue...

That would lead to everyone only giving downvotes just to laugh at the lowest person. Up votes would become obsolete.

I think that would get out of hand on this website, personally.

Purrfect, your paw is as soft as your game.
Have another down vote.

It's a perfect system for candyasses.

Yeah I wish it was fully transparent and you could see the person actually doing the up/down voting. I disagree with different takes and opinions all the time, but I rarely down vote, so when I reply with a different opinion, I hate going back to see that someone has down voted the post to which I replied. I don't want someone to think I'm down voting them when I'm not the real culprit.
The best part about knowing who is doing the down voting is that you could eliminate the serial down voters who just down vote an entire thread like an imbecile.

See, I wish there was a way to verify this.

I will upvote people who post something I agree with and only downvote depending on who posted it. Which might consist of 4 or 5 posters.
